1984-111 Ratifying And Confirming The Results Of The October 2, 1984 Regular Election.1 1 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NUMBER 84 -111 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE RESULTS OF THE OCTOBER 2, 1984 REGULAR ELECTION. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Law, the Kodiak Island Borough held a Regular Municipal Election in the Borough on Tuesday, the 2nd day of October, 1984, at which time candidates for the following offices to be filled were voted on: One (1) Borough Mayor for a one -year unexpired term; Three (3) Borough Assemblymen for three -year terms; Two (2) School Board Members for three -year terms; Two (2) Bells Flats- Russian Creek Service Area Advisory Board Members for three -year terms; Three (3) Mill Bay - Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board Members for three -year terms; One (1) Mill Bay - Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board member for a one -year unexpired term; Two (2) Fire Protection Area Number One Advisory Board members for three -year terms; One (1) Fire Protection Area Number One Advisory Board member for a one -year unexpired term; One (1) Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board member for a three -year term; One (1) Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board member for a two -year unexpired term; Borough - wide Proposition No. 1 on the question "Should the Kodiak Island Borough discontinue the Manager form of Administrator and revert back to the elected Chairman Administrator ? "; and the non - areawide Proposition No. 2 on the question "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough acquire non - areawide powers to regulate alcoholic beverages ? ", and WHEREAS, the returns of said election have been delivered to and canvassed by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly; Section 1: That the Assembly finds and hereby ratifies and declares the results of the Regular Municipal Election held within the Kodiak Island Borough on Tuesday, October 2. 1984 to be as follows: THAT for the position of Mayor for a one -year unexpired term, the following votes were cast: THAT, CRAIG J. BISHOP received 1128 votes; ANTHONY J. PEREZ received 490 votes, THOMAS H. PETERSON received 1189 votes, and 30 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that THOMAS H. PETERSON has been elected. THAT for the position of Assemblymen for three -year terms, the following votes were cast: THAT JIM ASHFORD received 1166 votes; ERIC BLANKENBERG ' received 1494 votes; EDWARD BRYANT JACK received 768 votes; RAYMOND LEGRUE received 1218 votes; DONNELL ROUNSAVILLE received 1403 votes; LORNE E. (LONNIE) WHITE received 1367 votes; and 58 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it leclared that ERIC BLANKENBURG INNELL ROCINSAVILLE and LORNE (Lonnie) WHITE have been elected. THAT for the position of School Board Members for three -year terms, the following votes were cast: THAT DENNIS MURRAY received 1251 votes; JIM M. OLSON received 1183 votes; FRANK R. PETERSON, SR. received 863 votes, GARY L. STEVENS received 1799 votes, and 16 miscellaneous write - in votes were cast, Therefore, it is hereby declared that DENNIS MURRAY and GARY L. STEVENS have been elected for three -year seats. THAT for the positions of Service District Advisory Board for the Bells Flats- Russian Creek Service Area three -year terms, the follow- ing write -in votes were cast: BILL WILLIAMS received 17 write -in votes; no other candidate received a majority of votes; there were 161 miscellaneous write -in votes cast, Therefore, it is hereby declared that BILL WILLIAMS was elected and the second seat was declared vacant. THAT for the positions of Mill Bay - Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board Members for three -year terms, the following votes were cast: PATRICIA SZABO received 402 votes; and OKEY CHANDLER received 4 write -in votes; no other candidate received a majority of votes; 65 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, PATRICIA SZABO, and OKEY CHANDLER were elected, and the third seat was declared vacant. THAT for the positions of Mill Bay - Island Lake - Spruce Cape Service Area Advisory Board Member for a one -year unexpired term: BAINE CATER received 355 votes; and 14 other miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that BAINE CATER was elected. THAT for the position of Fire Protection Area Number One Ad- visory Board Members for three -year terms, the following votes were cast: SCOTT ARNDT received 424 votes, BARBARA SWEARINGIN received 489 votes, and 35 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that SCOTT ARNDT and BARBARA SWEARINGIN have been elected for three -year terms. THAT for the position of Fire Protection Area Number One Advisory Board Member for a one -year unexpired term, the following write -in votes were cast: BILL SWEARINGIN received 7 votes and 93 miscellaneous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that BILL SWEARINGIN was elected. THAT for the position of Monashka Bay Road Service District Advisory Board member for a three -year term the following write -in votes were cast: PAUL STUBBE received 5 write -in votes; and 34 other miscella- neous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that PAUL STUBBE was elected. No. 84 -111 -R (Page 2) 1 THAI r the position of Monashka Bay ad Service District Advisory Board member for a two -year unexpired term the following write - in votes were cast: NANCY MISSAL received 3 write -in votes; and 32 other miscella- neous write -in votes were cast, Therefore, it is declared that NANCY MISSAL was elected. d THAT Proposition No. 1, on the question of continuing the Manager form of Administrator received 1405 YES votes and 1369 NO votes. Therefore, the Kodiak Island Borough will not continue with its present form of Administrator. THAT Proposition No. 2 on the question of acquiring non - areawide alcoholic powers, received 418 YES votes and 654 NO votes. Therefore, the Kodiak Island Borough will not acquire non - areawide alcoholic powers. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly on this 12th day of October 1984.
