1983-103 Requesting Relinquishment Of A Material Site Grant By The State Of Alaska.1 1 1 1 1 7 I :;
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
RESOLUTION NO. 83 -103 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY REQUESTING
RELINQUISHMENT OF A MATERIAL SITE GRANT BY THE STATE OF ALASKA.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has a parcel of tentatively
approved land, containing 125 acres, which is bounded on the north by the
Bells Flats Alaska Subdivision and on the south by the Russian Creek Alaska
Subdivision; and
WHEREAS, Borough title to the land is subject to the material site
grant until it is relinquished by the State of Alaska; and
WHEREAS, Borough use of its property for public purposes is
severely restricted by the Department of Transportation's material site
grant; and
WHEREAS, the land involved includes a salmon sport fishery and
salmon habitat, unusable areas for gravel extraction, and other
environmental concerns.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly that it requests relinquishment of Department of Transportation
material site grant A061248 because it adversely affects Borough property
for which the Borough is responsible and the Department of Transportation
only has the right to remove gravel, from the area involved, for federal aid
highway projects.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly that
copies of this Resolution be forwarded to Governor Bill Sheffield, Senator
Bob Mulcahy, Representative Fred Zharoff, and Daniel A. Casey, Commissioner,
Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.
