1976-54 Ratifying and Confirming the Results Of The October 5, 1976 General Election.K DIa ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NUMBER 76 -54 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY RATIFYING AND CONFIRMING THE RESULTS OF THE OCTOBER 5, 1976 GENERAL ELECTION. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Law, the Kodiak Island Borough held a Genera Municipal Election in the Borough on Tuesday, the 5th day of October, 1976, at which time candidates for the following offices to be filled were voted on: Two (2) Borough Assemblymen for a three -year term; Two (2) Schoo Board Members for a three -year term; One (1) School Board Member for a on year term; and Proposition No. 1 on the question "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough adopt a manager plan whereby a hired manager shall be the Chief Administrative Officer of the Borough as provided by Alaska Statutes 29.23. 450 ? "; and Proposition No. 2 on the question: "Shall the Kodiak Island Borough assume and exercise the powers necessary to provide recreational facilities ? "; and, WHEREAS, the returns of said election have been delivered to and canvassed by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assemb y: Section 1: That the Assembly finds and hereby ratifies and declares the results of the General Municipal Election held within the Kodiak Islan Borough on Tuesday, October 5, 1976 to be as follows: THAT for the position of Assemblyman for a three -year term the fo - lowing votes were cast: THAT DONAL EGELUS received 418 votes; MICHAEL EMMICK received 818 for Karl Armstrong (1), Carolyn Brisco (1), Archie Bunker (1), Jeff Collin (1), Donald Duck (1), T. T. Fuller (1), Philip Kennedy (1), Dan Ogg (2), T Simpler (1), Nick Szabo (1), Donene Tweten (1), Harold Ward (1), and Wilto White (1). Therefore it is hereby declared that SANDRA KAVANAUGH and MIC AEL EMMICK have been elected. THAT for the position of School Board Members for a three -year to m the following votes were cast: THAT STANLEY BALTZO received 653 votes; DAVID C. CROWE, Sr. votes; SANDRA KAVANAUGH received 884 votes; Write -in votes were received ceived 739 votes; JOAN JOHNSON received 696 votes; Write -in votes we e as follows: Hazel Ardinger (1), Val Benton (1), Pat Briggs (1), C. THAT for the position of School Board Member for a one -year term he following votes were cast: THAT SPENCER FALCON received 1055 votes; Write -in votes were a follows: Les Anderson (1), Stanley Baltzo (1), Pat Briggs (1), Harold Brighton (1), Okey Chandler (2), Cliff Davidson (6), John Doe (1), D. THAT Proposition No. 1 on the question whether or not the Kodiak Island Borough adopt a manager plan received 706 YES votes and 490 NO ATTEST: votes. Therefore the Kodiak Island Borough will hire a manager as chief administrative officer of the Borough. THAT Proposition No. 2 on the question whether or not the Kodiak Island Borough assume and exercise the powers necessary to provide recreational facilities received 339 YES votes and 155 NO votes. Therefore, the Kodiak Island Borough will exercise powers necessary to provide recreational fa - ilities on a non -area wide basis.
