RESOLUTION NUMBER 76 -II -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
SUPPORTING THE CONTINUATION OF FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING
WHEREAS, the Borough depends on general revenue sharing dollars
for essential borough programs;
WHEREAS, revenue sharing dollars enable boroughs to fill locally
determined vital needs with minimal redtape and federal restriction; and
WHEREAS, Efficient borough government calls for well - planned
advance budgeting; and
WHEREAS, responsive borough government depends on efficient
borough planning and budgeting and ample time for citizens participation;
WHEREAS, the current revenue sharing program expires December
31, 1976, and July through June fiscal year boroughs must begin budgeting
the previous spring;
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Kodiak Island Borough that general
revenue sharing be re- enacted by the first session of the 94th Congress
providing boroughs with advance dollar figures that can be used for
efficient, responsive planning of programs and budgets and that can be
identified for more than half of their fiscal 1976 year and can be incorporated
in long term effective planning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded
to the members of the Alaska Delegation in the Senate and the House of
Representatives.
