1989-27 Opposing SB 386 and HR 1190 Regarding Gun Control.WHEREAS, their is no proof that restrictive gun laws
have ever
reduced crime whenever or whereever they have been tried, and
WHEREAS, Washington, D. C. has the most restrictive
our country and also has the highest murder r ate in gun laws in
our country, and
WHEREAS, the framers of the Constitution put in the Second
Amendment as part of the checks and balances of a system of government,
and
WHEREAS, the Second Amendment of our Constitution is in
place so
that the government of the United States of America does not b
oppressive and to the Constitution s from United States of America from all its
enemies, both domestic and foreign, and
WHEREAS, over time we have come to take many of our freedoms
for granted but by looking at other countries around the world we
can see
how governments can become oppressive, and

A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY OPPOSING
SB386 AND HR 1190 REGARDING GUN CONTROL
WHEREAS, April 19th is the 214th Anniversay of the
British attempt
to confiscate arms at Concord, Massachusetts, and
expressingW WHEREAS, on that day people from all over the country will
through le i protest at the creeping erosion of be
gislation not aimed fh ye law, ut Amendment
law-abiding criminals unafraid of any law,
biding gun owners, and b at
WHEREAS, Senator M etzembaum's SB 386 and Congressman Stork's
HR 1190 outlaw deer rifles, highpower com
plinking, varmint Petition rifles, and children's
. target and rabbit rifles, and
WHEREAS, all clif feed se miautomatic target and defense handguns as Ruger .22, Colt .45 ACP, would become ill

WHEREAS, in the Republic of Georgia, part of the Soviet Socialist
i Republics, all of the registered hunting rifles were just confiscated in
response to the rioting taking place in that part of the world, and
WHEREAS, Alaskans are fortunate to have legislators that are
fighting to preserve our right to keep and bear arms but we must let them
know that we support their efforts,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly opposes the passage of 5B 386 and HR 1190.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution will be
sent to President George Bush, Congressman Don Young, Representatives Ted
Stevens and Frank Murkowski, Governor Steve Cowper, Senator Fred Zharoff
and Representative Cliff Davidson.
