1986-07 Authorizing a Six Month Lease Extension to an Existing Lease of the Apartment Building Complex Located on Lot 5, USS 2538A to the Kodiak Area Native Association.B KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION 86 -07 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING A SIX MONTH LEASE EXTENTION TO AN EXISTING LEASE OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING COMPLEX i LOCATED ON LOT 5, U.S. SURVEY 2538A TO THE KODIAK AREA NATIVE ASSOCIATION. WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough received restricted title to the j apartment building complex located on Lot 5, U.S. Survey 2538A from the State 1 of Alaska on February 8, 1980, and WHEREAS, the restrictive nature of this deed limits the use of this property for school or other public purposes only, as well as making the above .i property available to Indians and Non - Indians on the same terms, and WHEREAS, Title 18.40.0208 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances provides for negotiating a lease with non - profit corporations at a reasonable rental, taking into consideration the purpose for which the real property is to be used, and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Area Native Association (KARA) lease of the facilities expires on December 31, 1985, and WHEREAS, KANA has requested a six -month time extension until June 30, 1986 to correspond to the end of the 1985 -1986 school year, and WHEREAS, KANA qualifies as a non - profit organization and utilizes the facilities to house students from around the Borough attending schools in the City of Kodiak. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly approves a six -month time extention of the existing lease to the Kodiak Area Native Association to provide school. housing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Borough staff is authorized to enter into the extention of the lease agreement with RANA. PASSED AND APPROVED this 2 day of January , 1986.
