A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY SUPPORTING A KODIAK�
PROCESSING FACILITY BEING CHOSEN TO CONDUCT THE POLLOCK SURIMI PRODUCTION
CONTRACT.
WHEREAS, Kodiak has substantial transportation services in place to
support its position as a transportation center and the variety of support
industries necessary to service the fishing and processing segments of the
fishing industry soon to include a fish waste reduction plant, and
WHEREAS, the City of Kodiak has a more than adequate water supply to
meet its existing and projected needs including the development of a surimi

WHEREAS, there is

WHEREAS, the fishing fleet existent in Kodiak has the capability to
harvest the pollock resource which will provide the raw material for the

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly respect*
ully requests the Board of Directors of the Alaska Fisheries Development
oundation, Inc., to give the strongest consideration to awarding this surimi
roject to a Kodiak processing company.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent to
