1984-87 Supporting A Kodiak Processing Facility Being Chosen To Conduct The Pollack Surimi Production Contract.1 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 84 -87 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY SUPPORTING A KODIAK� PROCESSING FACILITY BEING CHOSEN TO CONDUCT THE POLLOCK SURIMI PRODUCTION CONTRACT. WHEREAS, Kodiak has substantial transportation services in place to support its position as a transportation center and the variety of support industries necessary to service the fishing and processing segments of the fishing industry soon to include a fish waste reduction plant, and WHEREAS, the City of Kodiak has a more than adequate water supply to meet its existing and projected needs including the development of a surimi Processing industry, and WHEREAS, there is community of Kodiak, and WHEREAS, the fishing fleet existent in Kodiak has the capability to harvest the pollock resource which will provide the raw material for the Pollock Surimi Producti WHEREAS, Kodi the seafood processing to this labor force in WHEREAS, the City of Kodiak and the Kodiak Area Chamber of Commerce ' lave passed similar resolutions supporting this position. a significant pollock resource in proximity to the on Contract, and ak has a sizable labor force experienced and trained in industry, but needs to provide employment opportunities order to retain this force in Kodiak, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak requests the active support of all interested parties in b rocessing facility being chosen by the Alaska Fisheries Inc., to conduct the Pollock Surimi Production Contract. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly respect* ully requests the Board of Directors of the Alaska Fisheries Development oundation, Inc., to give the strongest consideration to awarding this surimi roject to a Kodiak processing company.
