RESOLUTION NO. 84 -6 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH SUPPORTING THE SUBMITTAL
OF AN EDA GRANT PROJECT PROFILE APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, The Kodiak Island Borough has very little land available
for industrial development; and
WHEREAS, both the Kodiak Island Borough and the Kodiak Chamber of
Commerce have received numerous requests about the availability of industrial
land; and
WHEREAS The Kodiak Island Borough has designed an industrial park to
be developed on property owned by the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough intends to make this land avail-
able for private development once the roadways and utilities are in place; and
WHEREAS, the development of this industrial park area will provide
short -term employment during the installation of the utilities and the road-
ways; and
WHEREAS, the development of this industrial park area will provide
long -term employment and expand the industrial sector of the Kodiak economy;
and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds to construct the necessary public utili-
ties and roadways to service this area are not currently available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly supports the submittal of an EDA grant project profile application
for that portion of Peotter Drive and Selief Lane, identified on the attached
map. This project will provide roadway access and utilities to approximately
ten acres of industrial land.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly will
iprovide a match in the amount of $470,000, fifty percent (50 %) of the total
project cost of $940,000.
