RESOLUTION NO. 81 -98 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZING A
NEGOTIATED LEASE FOR AN INDOOR SHOOTING FACILITY.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has been working with the Kodiak
Island Sportsman's Association to provide an indoor shooting facility, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Sportsman's Association has caused grant
monies under Alaska Statutes 409 to be designated for such a facility on Kodiak
Island, and
WHEREAS, the facility is proposed to be located on property currently
under control of United States Coast Guard Reservation Kodiak, and
WHEREAS, the Coast Guard personnel have indicated they are willing to
enter into a long -term lease with Kodiak Island Borough for such an indoor
'.shooting facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
authorizes the administration to negotiate a long -term lease
with the United States Coast Guard Reservation Kodiak to allow for the
construction and operation of an indoor shooting facility, subject to the
following terms and conditions:
1. The lease term is not to exceed twenty -five (25) years.
2. The Kodiak Island Sportsman's Association is to indemnify the
Borough from injury or liability in regards to the shooting facility.
3. The Borough is not responsible for any operation or maintenance
costs associated with the shooting facility.
4. The facility shall be available for use by all of the citizens
of the Borough.
5. A user charge may be charged to cover the cost of operation of
