1981-77 Supporting The Sister Chamber Program As Proposed By Kesunnuma City, Japan.A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY SUPPORTING THE
SISTER CHAMBER PROGRAM AS PROPOSED BY KESENNUMA CITY, JAPAN.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly is aware of the proposal
by the Kesennuma Chamber of Commerce of Japan proposing a Sister Chamber with
the Kodiak Area Chamber of Commerce, and
WHEREAS, Kesennuma City 15 a promising fishing hnse facing the Pacific
and as such shares many unique relationships with the American fisbing industry
located in Kodiak, and
WHEREAS, the Kesennuma Chamber of Commerce has decided to send a
fishery mission as its thirtieth anniversary event to the Pacific Coast of
America including inspection of Fish Expo 81 in Seattle as well as a visit to
Kodiak.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough kssembly
that unanimous agreement exists as to the proposal to join the Kodiak Area
Chamber of Commerce and the Kesennuma Chamber in a Sister Chamber program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Assembly formally express
their support for the Sister Chamber program and endorse the concept in order
to promote the fishery industry and improved communications as well as good
will with our friends in Japan.
PASSED AND UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED this 1st day of October , 1981
by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly.
