This Bill, If Enacted, Addressed The Concerns Expressed By The Assembly In Their Resolution No. 81-02-R Of January 17, 19811 n) ' 1 1 7 ,, KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 81 -11 -R A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ENDORSING THE PASSAGE OF HB 223 AND REQUESTING THAT SIMILAR LEGISLATION BE IN- TRODUCED AND ADOPTED BY THE ALASKA STATE SENATE. THIS BILL, IF ENACTED, ADDRESSES THE CONCERNS EXPRESSED BY THE ASSEMBLY IN THEIR RESOLUTION NQ. 81 -2 -R OF JANUARY 17, 1981. WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has met with Com- missioner Bill Hudson of the Department of Administration, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Dean Tirador of the Department of Health and Social Services and Local Government Assistance Director, Mr. Palmer McCarter concerning options which the local community has ;concerning the utilization of existing services and facilities handicapped and the Departments' receptivity facilities to compliment and enhance what is in for its to elderly planning for place, and an d new Resolution No. 81 -11 -R WHEREAS, the Borough Health Resources Council, an advisory body to the Borough Assembly, has u nder - utilization of the Intermediate to the Kodiak Island Borough Hospital attention to methods of discussed the present Care Facility (ICF) attached and have directed solving this problem, and WHEREAS, the Borough Assembly has the financial state- ment for this facility for calendar year, 1980, indicating get deficit of $88,130.96 due to low utilization, and WHEREAS, this presents their a bud- a financial burden to the local ,taxpayers at a time when the State of Alaska has the opportunity and the resources to assist local communities with these crucial .health needs, and WHEREAS, House Speaker, Jim Duncan, together with Rep- resentative Mike Miller have introduced HB 223, "An Act relating jl to equalizing the costs of full -time residential or nursing care, band providing for an effective date ", and WHEREAS, this bill addresses Kodiak's challenge to the adequate utilitzation of its existing health care facility, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Assembly stron4 endorses the passage of this bill by the Alaska State Legislature and directs its delegation to facilitate this process and to keep the assembly informed of any progress during the legislative session.
