RESOLUTION N0. 81 -2 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM OF ACCESS TO BOROUGH INTERMEDIATE CARE
FACILITY (ICF) FOR PERSONS WHO DO NOT MEET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
FOR MEDICAID; AND TO ADDRESS THE NEED FOR ADULT RESIDENTIAL CARE
FACILITIES IN KODIAK.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has health powers
to provide services and facilities for its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Health Resources Council, an advisory
body to the Borough Assembly, has identified problems in the
delivery of long term care services to area residents; and,
WHEREAS, the Senior Citizens of Kodiak, Inc. have
identified similar problems and have written to the Governor
concerning the need for information from various State
agencies as to their services and plans; and
WHEREAS, in a recent letter to Ms. Anne Valley,
president of the Senior Citizens of Kodiak, Inc., Mr. William
Hudson of the Department of Administration indicated that the
three departments concerned with elderly affairs are coordinat-
ing their programs to avoid duplication and to provide the
optimum in program impact and flexibility and a willingness to
sit down with the Senior Citizens to discuss their options.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Assembly direct
a letter to Commissioner Hudson, Commissioner Beirne and
Commissioner McAnerney inviting them to meet with the Borough
and concerned community groups to discuss Kodiak's present
and future plans to meet the needs of its elderly and handi-
capped citizens. The Assembly would like to set the date of
that meeting to be February 18, 1981 i n the evening ening assuming
that
