1995-03-15 Regular Meeting i i s I ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD MINUTES i I } March 15, 1995 z The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. i s Attending the meeting were: Woody Koning, Scott Bonney, Eric Ness (arrived at 7:04), Greg Hacker (7:05), Jean Barber ( 7:10) and Gerry Cloudy, Betty Walters, and Kaye McClain, staff. Also attending were Bob Tucker, Larry LeDoux and Doug Mathers. There was discussion of board members contacting the office if they will be unable to attend meetings. Unexcused absences will be recorded and after 3 unexcused meetings in a row, a letter requesting the inters i of the member will be sent. Minutes of the last meeting, December 13, 1994 were approved . Mr Koning was nominated as Chairman by Scott Bonney. Gerry Cloudy seconded the motion. Mr. Cloudy was nominated as Vice Chairman by Greg Hacker. Mr Bonney seconded the motion. Mr. Koning and Mr. Cloudy were elected by a unanimous vvote. Recommendations to the Assembly on Architectural Review Board membership were discussed. Included comments were: "Why is there a school board member on the board, there is no hospital member ?" "We need a 'floating' position for a representative of the project under discussion at the time." "Voting members should be 'technical' people." They also discussed the Building Code of Appeals make up, in which the school board member should be non- voting. Greg Hacker moved that the board be seven (7) voting members from the general public as the first sentence in Borough Code 2.45.030 reads. Seconded by Jean Barber, the motion passed. Mrs. Barber moved to strike the second sentence in the above cited code section and to insert school board member and assembly member in the third sentence of the above cited code section. Seconded by Mr. Cloudy, the motion passed. Eric Ness moved the following changes to Borough Code 2.45.040; A. change works to funded B. strike school board and insert huildia administration and strike school and add the words and other public funded projects to the end of the sentence; C. strike the word hearing to mP� Seconded by Mr. Cloudy, the motion passed. Mr. Bonney moved the following change to Borough Code 2.45.010: strike nine (9) and insert seven (7) Seconded by Mr. Ness, the motion carried. The group turned their attention to the 60 -65% drawings for High School Alterations, Phase x IV B. Comments follow: Al There are no access hatches in the hard surfaced ceilings in the hallway near the science $ rooms. Need scope & spec on the refinishing of walls on the upper level classrooms. Also doors. Greenhouse B Window is drawn in wrong location, Does not coordinate with other drawings (elevations on A2). c��Yt���J z�� a�d� JJ� 3 Need a Key Plan, There's no indication of a work area. A No wall shown on upper level. ✓ Define new vs existing walls. 3 Should be a demo plan. A2 2 Bathroom currently has plywood ceiling. Has this been addressed with sheetrook over plywood? Doesn't show the door and will need different hardware if it is to be a entrance /exit door. 1 Area C floor. Mat room shows drinking fountain on north wall. Move to south wall just past the double doors. Show recessed cabinet. 1 Load dock door. Need dock bumper. Are windows on north to be demolished? .� i 1 Upper stairs. Need to move cabinet in the weight room to put stairs in. Should Sec 3/A7 be 2/A7? Question on Double doors between storage area and ? Can they withstand banging and bumps of palleted material? No support is shown for parapet on the roof. Where is detail? Please clarify. Co Wj A4 Where are Type A call - outs? i No cabinet or window schedule. Area D accordian partitions. Relocate to where? the next room has existing accordian partitions. Area E Split should be in middle, other drawings are not in the middle. Correct them No window details shown in small classroom. Principal would be happy with one window in the short wall. i No elevation on short windows shown. i Should detail 3 be Area D insted of A? What is it? A5 Schedule for Rm 116- vestibule. Modify it to show existing tile. There is no wall finish? Need to add a note to specs on finish. "All items not labeled existing are to be installed as new. " ? ? ? ?? Walls in the balcony rooms need sound deadening between rooms. Rooms 103, 105, 106, 107, 108. Need to look at decreasing sound transmission in some way. ✓ There is no treatment on the schedule on the new walls, base, doors, etc. in the science Room A & B. What is intent? A6 Again relocate cabinet Door Schedule No doors for upper classrooms? Refinish existing? Where are sections taken from? Are top two drawings 1/A6 and 3/A6? A7 How do you plan to build? Fire Rating? Bearing Wall? Connections? Truss deflection on non bearing walls needs to be added, if it is non bearing. Is EPDM spec for fully adheared application? �5 A8 Wall Section 4 Where? Verify location. Is this the sloped metal roof on vestibule 116? A9 1 What about deflection on too? And the bar? If there is a large snow load, they both could move. What treatment does the plywood closure which slopes with the stairs to get? 2 "cut wall type 2" Where are these? CLARIFY ALL THE SECTIONS A10 5 Metal flashing set in sealant! Where is it? Clarify this whole drawing. There is no clip for the frame. Is it a window? Hard to construct The panel will float. Rethink. 1 7/A8 incorrect ...no details on A8 5 No flashing on windows 6 Jamb detail 10 12/A13 Where are details S This is too preliminary for comment. Needs more work. Prints unreadable. M1 No comment M2 Where is it? M3 How are you balancing Air in Science Room A & B with entire system? y Why hot water tank? There is an existing big hot water tank above that area. Are acid drains called for? Need lab specs for the drain in the specs. Handicapped unisex bathroom Reflect on Al. A2 has a drawing of existing area. E M4 Patch & match .... Is it possible to match existing? Will it look half done? All "stick" drawing. No comment possible. t M5 Center the wall in office. Balance air handling .Rooms have hardeck ceilings. `s E1 School uses emergency exit signs NOT LIGHTS E2 No details on penetrations. Are there outlets in Rooms 105/103. Where does the plug mold fYun in 104? Is there a counter there, or open shelving? Again hot water tank? E3 There are no night lights, no emergency lights in 116 and mat room. No outside light by vestibule. Again center the office walls. E4 Area E - No outlets existing in room in front of offices. Need to add some. Does this include all required fire alarm systems? z Where is Key Plan?
