I. CALL TO ORDER
The 1972 Board of Equalization Meeting was reconvened at 9:00 P.M. by the Presiding
Officer, Norm Sutliff, in the Courtroom of the State Building, Kodiak, Alaska.

the audience.
III. CASES FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE BOARD
It was noted that there were three cases which had been

Martin and Sid Urie and Henry Legrue were present and were seated with the Board.
John Lucas gave a resume of the case in question noting the discrepancy to be in
the improvements total only. The Assessor had appraised the improvements at
$242,120 and the appellant was asking for a reduction to $150,000.

Mr. Lucas reviewed the appellant's statements and his own comments for the Board.
Mrs. McFarland then gave each Board member a list of properties and their values
which she had compiled from information received at the Borough Office. These
comparables were then discussed in length. In the discussion, it was pointed out
to Mrs. McFarland that her house was assessed at $19.00 per square foot and that
her land values had been constant for some years. After further discussion, Mr.
Sims made the motion to keep Mrs. McFarland's assessment at $10,150 on land and
$27,900 on improvements for a total of $38,050, seconded by Mr. Bardot. The motion
carried as follows:

DONALD J. ARNDT Lot 1, Block 1, Killarney Hills Subd.
At this time, Mr. Arndt relinquished his seat on the Board of Equalization.
The Assessor introduced a copy of Ordinance 71 -12 -0 wherein the subject property
had been zoned to R -3 with an effective date of November 7, 1971.
Mr. Arndt said since this was the case, he would accept the Assessor's figure of
$24,000 for a value of the property. In further discussion, Mr. Arndt questioned
what the value would be if re -zoned to R -2 and Mr. Lucas said it would have to be
reviewed at that time. Mr. Sims made the motion to keep the assessment at $24,000,
seconded by Mr. Bardot. The motion carried as follows:

There being no further business for the 1972 Board of Equalization, the Presiding
Officer declared the meeting adjourned at 10:35 P.M.
