III BQARD OF EQLALIZATIOLV APPELLANT Ct~SES
CASE #~1$ Assenbly of Gat Church, Leite Addis. Lots 7,9,10, & 14 Block 5°
The appellant in this case states, `~'1''hi.s is church property, and there is no
existing law in the state of Alaska requiring the paying of taxes by a church
organization on Church property. ~' P,3ro Barr moved, secea~ded by T~ss. Springhill that
in view of the Assessors ar~c1 the Attorney°s opinions, the assessment on this
Property be adjusted to incluc2e only Lots 7 and 14 of B1ocJc 5, Leite Addition.
I'1r. Barr felt that the resttiaVa7. of these tti;~ lots fran church use would not
effect the reasonable use of the church Luilding. Mrs.. Hajdu felt that use of ~ 1
these lots as a picric area is not necessary for the reasonable use of the church
building. It was further felt that these lots were not required for parlt.ing space.
P1Ir. Bullock stated that perhaps the church needed the lots wren the church was
built to meet lot size requirements. -:s~s. Hajdu dic? not thin): this was true
since they had already sold score lots. z~~tion was carried icy roll call vote
