1997-02-10 Regular MeetingWOMEN'S BAY SERVICE AREA BOARD REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 10, 1997 A regular meeting of the Women's Bay Service Area Board was held on February 10, 1997 at the Women's Bay Firehall. The meeting was called to order at 7;45 p.m. There were present: David Conrad, Chairman Linda Estes Jim Wells George Lee Absent: Linda Hinson Ed Gondek Tom Schwantes comprising a quorum of the Board. The agenda was approved as presented. Minutes were unavailable for the previous meeting. Fire Service The helmet purchase effort was updated. It was reported that additional information was being gathered prior to the purchase of new helmets. It was stated that the purchase would be made within the next several months. It was reported that the chair was still waiting for information from the Mayor regarding the questions submitted on the Kodiak Transfer "First responder issue". To date no information had been received. Brief discussion was held regarding the Russian River Estates residents request to consider the annexation of this subdivision into the service area boundaries. Conrad stated that this issue had been discussed with the Borough and the answer was that these residents would be required to bear the cost of bringing the road section up to adhere to the Borough Code or that the Service district would have to absorb the costs for the upgrade. Conrad stated that the remaining old business was dealing with ditching and culvert installation and these items were put on hold until Spring. New Business Fire Service FY 98 Budget The prepared budget was presented for review by the Board. Questions were asked and answered regarding specific sections of the budget. It was requested that the chair ask the finance department to separate the fuel line item into heating fuel and truck fuel. No changes were made to the prepared budget. Road Service FY98 Budget The prepared budget was presented for review by the Board. Questions were asked and answered regarding specific sections of the budget. No changes were made to the prepared budget. Motion: A motion was made to accept the budgets as prepared and to forward them to the budget hearing. Lee, seconded by Wells. Voice vote: Unanimous Motion carried. A motion was made to request a Borough Secretary to take minutes for the Board be arranged for the future meetings of the Women's Bay Service Area Board. It was announced that the Budget Hearing had been set for March 17, 199?, at 7:30 PM. Wells, moved to adjourn. seconded by Lee Vote on motion to adjourn Motion carried Unanimous voice vote.
