AN ORDINANCE OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH AMENDING
TITLE 2 ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL, CHAPTER 2.125
ARCHITECTURAL/ENGINEERING REVIEW BOARD, SECTION 2.125.030 QUALIFICATIONS
WHEREAS, the Architectural/Engineering Review Board (ARB) was established by resolution
of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly in 1980 and revised in 1986 and 1995; and
WHEREAS, the ARB was created to review all architectural and engineering proposals for
borough owned buildings and utilities; and
WHEREAS, the need for review for projects still exists; and
WHEREAS, the Assembly finds there is a need and value to add the Borough Project Manager
to the Board Ex Officio member list. The Borough Project Manager is intimately aware of project
procedures and management; and
WHEREAS, the Assembly finds there is a need and value to add the Borough Engineering and
Facilities Director to the Board Ex Officio member list. The Borough Engineering and Facilities
Director is intimately aware of projects operations and the departmental budgets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that:
Section 1: This ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall become a part of the
Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances.
Section 2: That Section 2.125.030 Qualifications of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of
Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
Seven members of the board shall be residents and qualified voters of the borough
and shall have an interest and a wide range of experience in engineering,
architecture, building, plumbing, roofing, electrical installation, and other related fields
involving the building business. The manager, assembly member representative,
project manager, engineering and facilities director, superintendent, or their
designees, and a school board representative shall be nonvoting ex officio members
of the board and may participate in all discussions.
Effective Date: This ordinance takes effect upon adoption.
