FIRE PROTECTION AREA #1
ADVISORY BOARD
Present: Bill Weaver, Scott Arndt, Bill Swearingin, Barbara
Swearingin, Chief Smith.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 on Mar.28, 1986 by Chairperson
Scott Arndt.
Agenda: Approved
Minutes: Approved, with corrections to Jan. 31, 1986 minutes.
Visitors: Dixon Ingram.
Financial Report: Acknowledge receipt.
Communications: None.
Volunteer Report: None.
Old Business:
Public hearing of Fire Protection Area #l. Fy. 87, budget.
Regular meeting adjourned.
Public hearing opened. Hearing no comments, public hearing
adjourned.
Regular meeting re -opened. Bill Swearingin moved we approve
FY 87, budget. Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.
Radios: Two proposals were presented.
One was submitted for G.E.
One was submitted for Motorola.
Bill Swearingin moved we accept the Motorola proposel.
Motion died for lack of a second.
Horace Simmons moved we accept the G.E. proposel, Bill Wever
seconded, motion carried.
The amount of $1094.00 will be expended for the purchase of
2, 2 channel radios.
Station water hook-up: Gary Struthers with U.R.S. Engr. will
do the design and plan for change over to new water system
for the Kodiak Island Borough.

Chiefs Report:
Commented on results of Fire Fighters Association meeting.
Repairs completed to base radio, F2 80.
Acknowledge recfept of Jim Schwager's preliminary report.
Went over items needed to satisfy requirements of ISO. Chief
to report back at next meeting.
New Business:
Scott Arndt reported on Service District #1 storage building.
It will be placed in a different location as the Fire Service
board raised no objection.
Bill Swearingin reported on air valves for the pump panel on
engine 11. Horace Simmons moved to aruhorize expenditure for
4 valves and installation not to exceed $2500. Bill Wever
seconded, motion carried.
Visitor Comments:
Dixon Ingram stated we need fog lights on engine 11. Horace
Simmons moved we install foglights on engine 11. Bill Wever
seconded, motion carried.
Board Comments:
Barbara Swearingin asked of any policies requested by the
board in the Dec 3, 1985 meeting were nearing completion for
presentation. Chief Smith indicated he was still working on
these.
Next regular meeting April, 25, 1986 at 7:30p.m.
