1985-04-24 Regular MeetingBAYSIDE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT STAR ROUTE, 3670 REZANOF KODIAK, ALASKA 99615 MINUTES OF MEETING FIRE PROTECTION AREA #1 ADVISORY BOARD Present: Bill Wever, Scott Arndt, Bill Swearingin, Barbara Swearingin, Horace Simmons, Chief Smith, Dixon Ingram. Meeting called to order a 7:33 p.m. on 4/24/85 by Chairperson, Scott Arndt. Agenda: Approved Visitors recognition: Dixon Ingram requested department to pay college tuition for ETT training, $50.00 per person. Discussed and approved without motion. Minutes: Error noted under amended totals. Second figure should read $10,000.00 instead of $15,000.00. Borough projection shows lowered state revenue sharing; budget adjusted to balance by adding revenue from apartment rental and drawing from fund balance. Horace Simmons moved to accept as amended, Bill Swearingin seconded. Motion carried. Financial Report: Bill Wever Moved to approve financial report, Horace seconded. Motion carried. Communications: Letter from Fire Protection Area #1, Scott Arndt, To Borough. Borough did not take action. Volunteer Report: None Old Business: City Contract: Discussion of approriate response to City Manager's letter. Wording of letter agreed to. Scott Arndt authorized to send it. Mutual Aid: The United Stated Coast Guard and Women's Bay are ready to agree to a mutual aid contract. We will arrange a meeting with them for the purpose of reading and signing this contract. COMMITTED TO FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY IN FIRE PROTECTION AREA #1. KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH Fire Risks: Discussed fire response policy of the City to City -owned property within Bayside District. Liabilities to City in case of failure to dispatch Bayside to be in letter to be sent to the City Manager, Sam Gesko. Chiefs Conference: Bill Swearingin moved to authorize Chief's travel to Chiefs' Conference, Barbara Swearingin seconded. Motion carried. Moter vehicle accident response: Bill Wever moved that Bayside Policy be to respond to any Fire Hazard, including motor vehicle accidents when there is risk of fire. Barbara Swearingin seconded, extended discussion, motion carried. Chief Smith directed to expand the first aid kits in the engines. Horace Simmons moved we have a special Goals and Objectives planning meeting on Tuesday, May 21, 1985 at 7:30, Barbara Swearingin seconded, motion carried. Chiefs Report: Pickup hood repair, to be done 4/25/85 New Volunteer: Bob Himes Volunteer jackets and hats. Recieved three (3) Task Force nozzels. New Business: Pot Luck on Saturday May 4, 1985 Station sketch presented. Visitors Comments: Artie Smith asked about training trailer.
