ADVISORY BOARD
Present: Bill Wever, Scott Arndt, Bill Swearingin, Barbara Swearingin,
Chief Smith.
Meeting called to order at 7:50 p.m. on December 26, 1984 by Chairperson,
Scott Arndt.
Agenda: Approved

Financial Report: Acknowledge receipt of financial report.
Communications:
Letter from Board to Jerome Selby, Borough Manager, regarding house
numbering.
Letter to Jerome Selby, Borough Manager, from Board regarding job
description.
Letter to Womans Bay from Bayside regarding sharing of trip ex-
penses for the trip to Oregon to examine and drive the new tankers
to Seattle.
Volunteer Report: By Will Walton
Recruit training program continues to have 8 volunteers.
Attendance and involvement very good.
Uniform jackets reviewed as to.cost. Bill Swearingin moved to
change board's contribution from $50.00 to $60.00 per volunteer
and to keep permanently after one year of service. Bill Wever
seconded, motion carried.
Disaster Preparation: Mike Dolph
Mike Dolph requested inclusion of the Bayside siren into the
existing disaster warning system. Matter was discussed and
other ideas brought out.

Motion to request the Borough Assembly to contribute 50% of
cost with the City on contracting with a consultant to design
an electronic operated disaster warning system for Kodiak and
in the interim to request funds to upgrade existing system.
Motion was made by Bill Swearingin and seconded by Bill Wever.
Motion carried.
Horace Simmons arrived at 8:15 p.m.
Old Business:
Training Trailer: Tabled.
Camera: Mail ordered from Cameras West of Seattle.
Avalanche Preventer: To be put in place by volunteer work
party mid January.
Chief's Report:
Equipment purchased - received:
Smoke -eater
Hydrant adapter
Gated relief valve
Yearly maintenance: Engine #11
Result of inspection showed bolts gone that hold pump
packing in place. Repaired.
No oil in pump shifting unit. Replaced oil.
Shows value of yearly maintenance program.
Petty Cash discussed.
Womans Bay has paid one-half of the expenses to Oregon to check
the tanker and drive to Seattle.
Drills: Three people below minimum standard for drill attendance.
Re-evaluate next fall prior to recruit drive.
Bill Swearingin moved we authorize purchase for new rims and tires
from Island Chevron. Horace Simmons seconded, motion carried.
New Equipment needed: Air compressor
Bill Swearingin moved we purchase an air compressor from Sears,
not to exceed $600.00, Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.
New Business:
As Built: Discussed as built, looks good.
Pager: Horace moved we pay 75% of replacement cost of lost
pager. Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.

Mutual Aid: Horace Simmons moved we draft a letter to the City
Council, Womans Bay, and the Coast Guard concerning mutual aid
and include a copy of a mutual aid agreement to be examined by
them. Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.
