Present: Scott Arndt, Bill Wever, Horace Simmons, Chief Smith, Barbara Swearingin.
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m, on July 3, 1984 by Scott Arndt
Chairman.
Agenda Approved. Horace Simmons moved, Bill Wever seconded

Visitors:
Will Walton, New Chairperson for Bayside Volunteers.
Financial Report:
Chief Smith reported that the volunteer pay for the year end$ng June 31,
1984, totaled $890.00.
Communication:
Letter from.Linda Freed informing the Board of action taken by the
Borough Assembly.
1. Approved Ordinance #84-27-0 establishing a building numbering
system.
2. Approved Resolution # 84-46-R requestion the study of consolidation
of Fire Protection Service District #1 (Bayside) and the City of
Kodiak Fire Department.
Volunteer Report: By Will Walton
Copy of Minutes attatched.
Picnic:
Horace Simmons moved that we provide funds up to the amount of $500.00
once a year for a social event. Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.
Old Business:
Constitution and By laws: Tabled
Station Water Filters: Chief Smith reported that a test done on the water
by Sears showed heavy concentration of calcium, or very hard water.
Horace Simmons moved that we purchase a double water filter unit, a water
softner unit and hire Doug Mathers to install. Time and Materials.

Chiefs Report:
Chiefs Annual Report, copy attached, includes special thank you list.
New Business:
Tanker Radio:
Proposal- to transfer the radio equip, capy attached
Horace Simmons moved to go ahead with advertising for radio equip,
Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.
Tanker Shipment:
Discussion of free shipment of Tankers by Sampson Tug and Barge.
No action taken.
Equipment Replacement Policy: Copy attached.
Bill Wever moved we accept document as written. Horace Simmons
seconded, motion carried.
Change order for tanker: #1005-1 copy attached Horace Simmons moved
we accept change order, Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.
Anchorage School: "Formulating Public Policy"
Horace Simmons moved we authorize Chief Smith to attend this 1 day
conference on Aug 6, 1984, and to reimburse Chief Smith appropriate out
of pocket expense, Bill Wever seconded, motion carried
(FEMA.will reimburse the cost of Air travel and $92. per diem.)
Equipment List:
Discussion of list items. Items for consideration, Brush Fire
equip. (research)
The Board directed Chief Smith to come back with price list.
Chief Uniforms:
Requested list of items, and price list.
Horace Simmons moved we buy initial uniforms, replacement only
after that. Bill Wever seconded, motion carried.
Chief Smith report of volunteer status:
One volunteer dropped, two more possible drop.
Present total on roster, 20.
Recruit Goal 15.
Road Closures:
Directed Chief Smith to write a procedure for notifying Fire Department
when there is a road closure, research where best to place procedure.
Possibly put in with bid contracts.
Goals for 84-85:
Prepare list of future project items to present at our Sept. meeting.
Dangerous Snow problem:
Research problem of snow on roof sliding off in large dangerous
pieces. Present at our Sept. meeting.
Chiefs Salary:
Bring information back to present at our Sept. meeting . Copy of
personel regulations.
Comments: By Chief Smith
State Fire Fighters Association, short discussion.
EMT I; Some of the volunteers expressed a desire to go through the
EMT I program.
