FIRE PROTECTION AREA #1 11U 11 12 M ADVISORY BOARD I,I•1$ I,I,I,$ I,¢ I,I� Present: Scott Arndt, Bill Wever, Horace Simmons, Chief Smith, Barbara Swearingin, The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m, on May 8, 1984 by Scott Arndrty, Chairman. Agenda Approved. Horace Simmons moved, Bill Wever seconded. Minutes Approved, Horace Simmons moved, Bill Wever seconded. Finanical Report: Money in Fund Balance has been placed in budget to cover cost of Radio Equipment and instalation, Pick-up Truck and the McPherson Supply order. Communication: Resolution 84-33-R supporting Bill #333 adopted by the Kodiak Island Borough. Letter from Sam Gesko, City Manager, regarding fire coverage by City to Bayside and Womens Bay Fire Districts. Copy of letter from Womens Bay Fire Dept. to Sam Gesko, City Manager, regarding fire protection. Letter from C.E. 11 student John Heine, thanking Chief Smith for job site exploration. Discussion on Resolution #84-46-R which was tabeled at the May 3, 1984 Borough Assembly meeting pending recomendation from the fire board from fire protection area #1 (Bayside) Visitors: Jim Beason For study of idea Randy Williams Against study of idea Tom Dean for study of idea Horace Simmons moved to endorse the Resolution 84-46-R as written. Bill Wever seconded, Roll Call Vote: Horace Simmons Yes. Bill Wever No. Scott Arndt No. Barbara Swearingin No. Motion Failed 3-1 Horace Simmons moved to return to discussion later in the evening. Bill Wever seconded. Motion carried. COMMITTED TO FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY IN FIRE PROTECTION AREA 01. KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH (2) Old Business: Station Safty Inspection. Chief Smith reports that Bob Hatcher- OSHA representative, recomended changes in Hose tower ladder, Outside recepticle, restroom recepticle. Tabled were constitution and by laws, station water filter, t: Typewriter. Visitor: Debbie Burgy, requesting funds for questionaire by the Monashka Bay Planning group. Mrs. Burgy was referred to our board by Linda Freed. Our board feferred Mrs. Burgy to the Borough Assembly. Complaint noted: Neighbor running out of water. Chiefs Report: New Antenna installed by Andy Brumbaugh. Short discussion of paging and communication. Arson Seminar, Attending were Chief Smith, Bill Wever and John Shank, 62 hrs. of comprehensive training on Arson. All three attending were impressed by teachers, represen- tatives of fire service and quality of training presented. Very informative. New Business: Parking Lot, Barbara Swearingin presented information regarding swamp area next to parking lot. On advice from Phil Shealy, Dave Crowe, Borough engineer was contacted and met with Bill Wever, Chief Smith, and Barbara Swearingin May 8, 1984 to look at property. He advised we could have fill put in but would have to remove or burn some logs and debris to leave a ditch open for drainage of water. He also recomended we contact State Highway personel regarding area next to highway. Contact KEA personel regarding filling in around power pole. Ray Camardella contacted regarding placement of drain field. Identification Cards; Barbara Swearingin presented information regarding Identification cards for volunteers being made at City Police station. Gary Gibbons was contacted and agreed to allow identification cards to be made at the City Police station with a charge of $1.00 per card. Cost of printing the blanks $40.00 if printed by Austermans. Bill Wever moved we pay for printing. Horace Simmons seconded Motion carried.
