SPECIAL MEETING
ADVISORY BOARD
Present: Bill Wever, Horace Simmons, Barbara Swearingin,
Carolyn Brisco, Chief Smith.
The meeting was called to order at 8:15 p.m, on April 10, 1984
by Horace Simmons, acting chairman.
Item 1, Discussed Fire Dispatch Procedure Memo for Bayside and
Womens Bay. The general opinion of the group was that although
this isn't what we paid for and although we weren't in on the
preparation of the procedure plan, we would accept it as written.
From the optimistic view it appears that the city agrees that
we can respond to fires and work effectivly to suppress fires with
a minimum of assistance.
Item 2, Evaluation of Present Bayside Operation.
A) What do we need
Manpower Enough, response good
Equipment Basic equip, enough, need equip, list for
Salvage equip. Extra equip. Back-up equip.
Water Short in some areas, No difficulty when tanker
is in service.
Expertise Basic foundation exists now to get the job
done, needs polishing but improvement is
progressing
Communication Dispatch repeat call out.

8-5 weekdays
evenings weekends
Large fire
C) How often back-up needed
50 of calls
D Calls per year
Few, 16 approx.

1) Chief stay at station more during day,have some one
volunteer to man station when he has to be out to insure
quick engine response.
2) Go to station before proceeding to fire ground unless
notified via pager that engine is responding.
