This special meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. December 13, 1983• After presentation of the proposals for providing the pumper/tanker truck, a motion was, entertained by Horace Simmons to accept the proposal from Western States Manu facturing Company. Second was heard from Bill Weaver. Motion carried unanimously. Western States entered the lowest proposal price. The related equipment list will be revised by the Board, the volunteers and Chief Smith to keep the total figure at the $100,000 figure alloted, instead of a higher figure. It has been determined that the NEC brand Pagers may be exchanged for the Motorola hand-held monitors. It will involve a restocking charge and revising the number of monitors downward to make up the higher cost per unit. Bill Weaver made a motion to request such an exchange, seconded by Carolyn Brisco, motion carried. The quieter monitors will add to the usefulness to the volunteers and insure their continual use. Discussion was held concerning mutual aid agreements with Women`s Bay -Russian River area and the Coast Guard Base. The Board recognizes that voids for fire service exist. With a formal agreement with other areas, Bayside`s fire engine could legally respond outside our district. We see the need for an overall study of fire protection coverage for the areas of the Borough that are on the road system but not included in a fire service district. Motion was made by Horace Simmons to authorize Chief Smith to call out, at his discretion, volunteers for response to any request for as- sistance to any other fire district. Seconded by Carolyn Brisco, motion carried. Secretary has been directed to draft letters of thanks to Sea -Land at local and Alaskan levels for delivery of our Grumman 'rdildcat engine from Seattle to Kodiak. Also,to the City Council for their continued cooperation. Meeting was adjourned. Carolyn M. Brisco.
