1983-10-12 Regular MeetingMINUTES OF MEETING
FIRE PROTECTION AREA #1 ADVISORY BOARD
12 October 1983
Present: Carolyn Brisco,
geni visitor: Art Smith, Jim
Norm Wooten, Barbara Swearin-
Swearingeni Chief Smith.
Discussion was held concerning the conflict of interest
which might arise with volunteer firefighters also serving
in the capacity of Advisory Board members. It is feared
that bias may hinder decision -making in the best interest
of the Fire Protection Area #1 as a whole. Motion was
made by Carolyn Brisco: to limit to two the positions that
may be filled on the Board by persons also serving in the
capacity of volunteer firefighters. Second was made by
Barbara Swearingen. Motion carried unanimously.
Chief Smith spoke with Fred McPherson, who is the dealer
for Grumman. Our fire engine was in Kansas on its way
to Seattle for shipment to Kodiak. McPherson indicated
that all our equipment may not fit on the truck for ship-
ment. Our verbal agreement was that it would be shipped
with the truck. We must find out if he will pay for
shipping that which won't fit on the truck or if it is
our responsibility. Will Seaiand consider gratis shipping?
Scott Arndt has indicated a willingness to serve on
the Board to finish out Sue Klemzak's unexpired term.
The vacancy was created with her resignation letter received
by the Borough this week. Motion was made by Norm Wooten
to appoint Scott Arndt to this position. Second was
made by Barbara Swearingen. Motion carried unanimously.
Carolyn Brisco will draft a letter to the Borough Mayor
and Borough Assembly requesting this appointment.
Meeting adjourned.
Carolyn M. Brisco
