1983-10-12 Regular MeetingMINUTES OF MEETING FIRE PROTECTION AREA #1 ADVISORY BOARD 12 October 1983 Present: Carolyn Brisco, geni visitor: Art Smith, Jim Norm Wooten, Barbara Swearin- Swearingeni Chief Smith. Discussion was held concerning the conflict of interest which might arise with volunteer firefighters also serving in the capacity of Advisory Board members. It is feared that bias may hinder decision -making in the best interest of the Fire Protection Area #1 as a whole. Motion was made by Carolyn Brisco: to limit to two the positions that may be filled on the Board by persons also serving in the capacity of volunteer firefighters. Second was made by Barbara Swearingen. Motion carried unanimously. Chief Smith spoke with Fred McPherson, who is the dealer for Grumman. Our fire engine was in Kansas on its way to Seattle for shipment to Kodiak. McPherson indicated that all our equipment may not fit on the truck for ship- ment. Our verbal agreement was that it would be shipped with the truck. We must find out if he will pay for shipping that which won't fit on the truck or if it is our responsibility. Will Seaiand consider gratis shipping? Scott Arndt has indicated a willingness to serve on the Board to finish out Sue Klemzak's unexpired term. The vacancy was created with her resignation letter received by the Borough this week. Motion was made by Norm Wooten to appoint Scott Arndt to this position. Second was made by Barbara Swearingen. Motion carried unanimously. Carolyn Brisco will draft a letter to the Borough Mayor and Borough Assembly requesting this appointment. Meeting adjourned. Carolyn M.
