Bayside Fire District Advisory Board

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Barbara Swearingen reported that volunteer meetings are
being held every Monday, with training sessions held by
Tom Dean of the city fire department. The volunteers
are in the process of organization and ebcting a slate
of officers.
The Board discussed the hiring of a fire chief/engin=
eer and reviewed the applications received. A motion was
made and seconded to have Earl Smith of Rainier,Oregon
come to Kodiak for an interview at Bayside Fire District's
expense. Motion carried. Direction was given to secretary
Carolyn Brisco to contact him and arrange details.
Sue Klemzak will obtain current financial figures from
Borough staff to present at next meeting.
Carolyn Brisco was directed by the board to draft a
letter to the Grumman Company concerning the delivery
date of our truck, explaining the extension of our fire
protection contract with the city and the expense of the
situation until the delivery of our truck is a reality.
Jim Poulos has turned in his letter of resignation
from the Bayside Fire District Advisory Board. After
discussion a motion was made and seconded to let his
seat go unfilled until the upcoming fall election.
Motion carried.
Norm Wooten was directed to compile a list of tools
for purchase for working maintenance on our fire apparatus.
The Board will have a work/cleanup session at the fire
station on Monday, June 27 at 1:00 p.m. The floors will
be properly prepared with industrial products at that tima
