The meeting of Fire District #1 Advisory Board was
called to order by Chairperson Sue Klemzak.
Discussion was held concerning thejob description
as written by the Borough Personnel Board from
information furnished by the Advisory Board.
Motion was made by Sue Klemzak to_review these
qualifications and require more experience on the
part of the applicants for the Fire Chief position
for Fire District #1. Motion was seconded by Barbara
Swearingen. Motion carried.
The fire truck proposals recieved from various companies
were examined . It was decided to plan a joint meeting
with the Bells Flats Advisory Board to discuss the
proposals as soon as possible.
Discussion concerning the signing up of volunteers
for fire -fighting was held. It was decided best to
have definite sign-up at the time of the Bayside Fire
Station "open house".
Motion was made by Carolyn Brisco to petition the
Kodiak Island Borough Assemby to change the name of
Fire Protection Area #1 to Bayside Fire Protection Area.
Motion was seconded by Sue Klemzak. Motion carried.
The Fire Protection Area #1 Advisory Board is lacking
members as of this date. Motion was made by Barb
Swearingen to request that the Borough Mayor and Borough
Assembly act on making appointments to fill out the
board at their next meeting. Motion seconded by Caro3�n
Brisco. Motion carried. Those persons who have indicated
a willingness to serve are: Norm Wooten and Jim Poulas.
The Advisory Board recommends that either or both of ttese
persons be appointed to the open positions.
Meeting adjorned at 10:00 p.m.
