BAYSIDE BOARD MEETING
MINUTES
MARCH 29th, 1988
CALL TO ORDER: 7:20 PM March 29th, 1988.
PRESENT: Horace Simmons, Sid Cozart, Bill Swearingen, Scott Arndt,
Chief Earl Smith and Charles Lorenson.
AGENDA: Accepted.
PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET: Horace closed the meeting and opened
Public Hearing. The new budget is based on a mill rate
of 1.5. Horace closed Public Hearing,)and opened meeting.
The Board and Volunteers discussed the new budget. We
hope the van will be expensed from last years money. Bill
made motion to accept the budget "as is". Sid seconded and
was passed unanimously.
VISITORS: John Shank, Andy Nault and Barbara Swearingen.
MINUTES: Accepted and passed unanimously.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Approved and passed unanimously.
BUDGET: Approved and passed unanimously.
VAN SPECIFICATIONS: Discussed the van proposal and accepted.
Passed unanimously.
VAN EQUIPMENT: Bill made motion to purchase the following items:
14-------------- 22 Air bottles
2---- ---------- 22 Air packs with cases
1-------------- 13,500 Smoke fans
1-------------- 10,500 Smoke fans
1-------------- 35 Ladder
Not to exceed 12,000.00. Charles seconded.
Passed unanimously. Items are to be placed in
our proposed new van.
A. Approved the overhead projector and passed unanimously.
HEAT EXCHANGER: Andy Nault discussed the heat exchanger and will
research more information for the next meeting.
DEPARTMENT JACKETS: Bill made motion to purchase the jackets.
The Volunteers have a choice between windbreaker or
quilted jackets. Charles seconded and passed unanimously.

CHIEF'S REPORT: Chief Smith thanked the Board for the banquet and
discussed.the party. He noted training report and
hoped it was read by all. Chief Smith and Andy
Nault attended the Spring Conference and the Chief
really had a "good time". They both were impressed
with the Conference. 0hief Smith discussed the fire
that occured on Friday. He commented that the Mirror
was a bit premature on calling it 'arson.
Chief Smith praised the Volunteers on the way they
contained the fire. Eleven (11) Volunteers showed
which represents, roughly, eighty-five (85) per cent
of the department. Thank you for the great TURN -OUT!
VISITORS COMMENTS: Andy Nault voiced his opinion on the Conference
and said it to be educational.

But most of all VOLUNTEERS are like FROSTED FLAKES.......
