Minutes of Meeting
PRESENT: Scott Arndt, Barbara Swearingin, Sid Cozart, Horace Simmons,
and Chief Smith and Bill Swearingin.
Meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. on October 6, 1987.
AGENDA: Approved.
MINUTES: Motion to approve minutes of June 25, 1987, meeting was accepted
after discussing the omission of the wording "motion carried
unanimously". Scott Arndt moved and Barbarba Swearingin seconded,
Motion carried unamimously.
VISITORS: Andy Nault, Sharon Nault, and Vern Burns.
COMMUNICATION: Discussion regarding the fire truck backing into John Shank's
car. Motion was made by Horace Simmons and seconded by Sid Cozart
to pay the damages out of Fire District monies instead of going
through insurance. Damages were $1,019.81. Motion was carried
unanimously.
Discussion regarding letter sent to the Kodiak Island Borough with
a statement for charges incurred while putting out a fire at the
Landfill Site on August 20, 1987. See attached copy.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Horace Simmons motioned to approve financial report, Sid Cozart
seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
VOLUNTEER REPORT: None
OLD BUSINESS: Chief Smith discussed the bid on the City Fire Engine. As of yet,
there has been no word from the City regarding this.
NEW BUSINESS: A motion was made to pay $3,000.00 to the City of Kodiak for City
aid in 1986-87 for fire response. Horace Simmons moved, Barbara
Swearington seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion was made by Horace Simmons and seconded by Barbara Swearingin
to send Doug Mathers and John Shank to Officer School in Homer. Motion
carried unanimously.
Consolidation Study Representative was discussed. No action was taken
at this time.
The Chief's Evaluation to be by committee comprised of Horace Simmons
and Sid Cozart.
