DATA PROCESSING STEERING COMMITTEE
August 23, 1983
Chairman, Bryce Weeks, called the Computer Steering Committee to order
on Tuesday, August 23, 1983, at 10:00 a.m. The following persons were
in attendance:
Phil Shealy
Bryce Weeks
Eileen Harland
Noreen Thompson
Joyce Healey
Wayne Haerer
The first item on the agenda discussed was the EMA software acquisiton.
Eileen reported that the payroll will be interfaced with our finance
system. The interface would pass all the necessary vendor information
to the Payroll/Personnel system. This means that the first conversion will
be the finance system. The Mat -Su Borough has supplied a copy of their
source code to us with the understanding that we will give them programs
they can use in the future. The Mat -Su Borough also suggested that a Data
Processing User's Group be formed. The committee agreed and will
cooperate in forming the group.
Bryce and Joyce will work on a Request for Proposal for a firm to
evaluate the total data processing needs of the Borough/City and
the School District. The electrical requirements for the System/38
have been given to the Facilities Coordinator's Office and they are
proceeding.
The discussion then turned to education of personnel. Eileen will
finish the last class required by IBM in September. We will be
purchasing a self -teaching course for our local users. To train
Margaret Jamison and an appointed School District employee for
maintenance programming, Eileen will study the possibility of
in-house training and report to the committee.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:05 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
B/ r e S.
