1983-06-22 Regular MeetingKODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
DATA PROCESSING STEERING COMMITTEE
June 22, 1983
Chairman, Bryce Weeks, called the Computer Steering Committee to
order on Thursday, June 16, 1983, at 10:00 a.m. The following
persons were in attendance:
Bryce Weeks Eileen Harland
Joyce Healey Arthur Rupert
Marolyn Pedersen
The first item discussed was software. All software will have to
be either converted or rewritten to run on the System/38. If converted,
it will not take advantage of the Data Base. The EMA package has been
reviewed by Joyce Healey, Kitty Munro, Pam Hummell, Jan Williams and
Eileen Harland. The Payroll/Personnel module has the most to offer.
Our payroll system has been inadequate and does not include any personnel
functions. Joyce recommended we purchase this system and the Borough
share the costs at $18,000 for the total package. Joyce and Eileen
will write a proposal for the Manager and the Superintendent to review.
Mat -Su Borough has a property tax and assessment system that is written
for the IBM System/38. We will begin negotiating for the System, it will
probably cost us any out-of-pocket costs that Mat -Su incurrs and trade
for our software in the future. Eileen will visit them in the second
week of August to pick it up.
Phil Shealy, Noreen Thompson and Sam Gesko recommended that an
systems analyst be hired to evaluate the needs of each entity.
committee agreed that this should be done to bring objectivity
the long range plan.
The next meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, July 7, 1983
being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
Respectfully submitted
