1989-11-10 Regular Meeting/-/Y - UZ
Monashka Bay Road District
Meeting of November 10, 1989
I. Meeting was called to Order at 7:15 PM.
Members Present were ; Wattem, Fox, Cordry, Swearingin, and
Ogg.
II. Bill Swearingin was elected to be Chairman; Dan Ogg was
elected to be Secretary.
III. Bill reported on the information he received for lighting the
school bus stops. He stated that the cost was too high because KEA
has to install a pole. However, BIll said he would look into the
cost again as KEA may have put a pole in at the Three Sisters stop.
IV. Bill reported that the fall upkeep to the roads had been
completed. He also reported that there were five culverts to be
replaced and that there the damaged and missing street signs were
to be fixed and replaced.
V. The members voted unanimously to request the borough for
paving funds and to remain on the Borough's CIP list.
It was noted that the district has been on the borough CIP
list for many years and has not received improvement monies as have
the other road districts.
_ VI. The members voted to request the borough to add an extra
dumpster at the Park near Otmaloi Road. In addition the members
felt that the Borough should place fences around the dumpsters so
that the garbage would not blow around and would not look so dumpy.
VII. The members voted to have the Borough request the State to
lower the speed limit on the state highway from Fort Ambercrombie
to just past Marmot Drive to 45mph.
This request was given to the Mayor two years ago and we are
still waiting for a response.
VIII. The Members voted to request the Borough to have the state
designate the school bus stop at the top of Three Sisters a school
crossing. It was felt that the speed of the traffic, the darkness
in the morning, and the fact that the hill prevents drivers from
seeing children on the road or side of the road in time to stop
safely.
Joel Wattum was delegated by the members to pursue this
topic.
IX. The members voted to hold a public hearing on the on whether
the Area encompassed by the district should opt for the Borough's
RR zoning classification.
The secretary was directed to write a letter to the property
owners which would include a postage return envelope thus allowing
the property owners to express their feelings.
