I CALL TO ORDER
BICENTENNIAL CONaSSION
The meeting was called to order after lunch at 12 noon at the
Captain's Keg by Chairman Allen Taylor.

III MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING
The Chairman reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting.
Margaret Childs has spoken to Miss Carol at the Library and
the Library will make a Bicentennial scrapbook for Kodiak.
Jean Rhines will check on the Flag program in the schools.
Ann Barker will run the publicity on the Bicentennial Talent
show in the Mirror. Susan Starr-Bresette will discuss the
possibility of holding the Crab Festival parade off until
the 4th of July with the Festival Committee at their next
meeting.
IV OLD BUSINESS
A. Town Meeting '76 - This Bicentennial function was a big
success. Margaret Childs will call ICA in Anchorage regard-
ing the tapes made of Town Meeting. Jean Rhines suggested a
copy of the tape be placed in the library. The Proclaimations
from the State, Borough and City will be given to the Museum.
A review of the finances for the Town Meeting was given and
it was noted money was still needed to pay the bill for the
use of the school, $204.34, which was larger than expected.
B. Heritage Days - A summary of this Bicentennial event in
the schools was sent by Chuck Evans and reviewed.
C. Kodiak Medallions - Dennis Murray reported that the Senior
Citizens now have the Kodiak Medallions for sale in silver,
nickle and bronze.

D. Air Force Band/Singing Sargents - A fund raising report was
given by Susan Starr-Bresette and Gil Jarvela. A full page ad
has been donated by the Mirror, and they visited the Lions Club
and received a donation of $300. to pay for the tickets and
programs. Jean Rhines, Ann Barker and Susan Starr-Bresette will
handle the publicity for this event. The committee voted un-
animously to sponsor a no host cocktail party for Col. Gabriel
following the concert. Jean Rhines will check into having
coffee and punch in the cafeteria after the concert for the
public to meet the members of the band. Dennis Murray will
contact the American Legion regarding a Seafood Brunch Sunday
morning. Crab Tie Tac's will be presented to every member of
the band (104) and a Silver Kodiak Medallion to Col. Gabriel
at intermission.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Flag Day - June 12th at the Elks at 7 P.M. Adm. Hayes will be
the guest speaker for this rededication of the flag.
B. Fourth of July Parade and Celebration - Larry Graber Chairman
of the Parade last year was present and commented that the Ameri-
can Legion will be the sponsor again this year and that no plan-
ning has been done as of yet but he is reviewing what has been
done before. Gil Jarvela suggested a "Almost Anything Goes"
theme for the games. The Community Baptist Church will sponsor
a barbeque. Allen Taylor will check on the availability of a
Coast Guard ship to hold open house downtown for the day. The
Museum will discuss at their next meeting the possibility of a
Bicentennial Ball for the 4th.
C. Meeting House Plaque for Museum - Allen Taylor said the State
is working on this and they hope to have it for presentation on
the 4th of July. Lucy discussed the State Division of Parks
plans for a marker for Benny Benson's grave.
D. Bicentennial Grant Applications - The grant, $2,750, was re-
ceived for the Museum, Village Park, and the Elwani group from
the High School will be donating the labor.
E. Bicentennial Projects - Allen Taylor will try to get a list
of projects and call groups to get them working on them.
F. Bicentennial Film Show - Ann Barker will have an article in
the Mirror that these films are available for groups.
VI ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 P.M. The next regular meeting
will be Saturday, April 10, 1976 at the Captain's Keg.
