CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order after lunch at 12 noon at the
Captain's Keg by Chairman Allen Taylor.

The Chairman reviewed the minutes of the previous meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Town Meeting '76 - A letter was read from Howard Stoner of ICA
in Anchorage. Jean Rhines suggested the tapes of the Town Meeting
be bought and placed in the library. David Sinclair from ICA was
present as a guest and spoke about what happened at the wrap up
meeting held that morning and that the proposals from Town Meeting
will be presented to the City Council and Borough Assembly.
B. Air Force Band/Singing Sergeants - We are still waiting to hear
from the Director of Tours regarding the coffee and punch, cocktail
party and brunch. Al Taylor will call the Air Force Band during
the week. He has lined up vehicle support for the Band and Sonny
Edwards will provide school buses to and from the airport and to
the concert site. The Senior Citizens will donate a silver medal-
lion to Col. Gabriel which Dennis Murray will present at the con-
cert. Tickets "sold" to date, 550.
C. Kodiak/State Medallions - Dennis Murray had medallions on hand
for purchase by members of the committee.

V NEW BUSINESS
A. Fourth of July - Larry Graber was not present to discuss plans
for this event, he will be invited to the next meeting. A grant
application is being written for Fireworks for the 4th of July
sponsored by the Elks.
B. Fourth of July - Bell Ringing - Information sent from John
Warner, National Administrator ARBC was reviewed and the committee
unanimously endorsed a Bell Ringing for the 4th of July for Kodiak..
Margaret Childs volunteered to chair the Bell Ringing Committee.
Members of the committee strongly recommended that a grant be
written to restore the Bell Tower of the Russian Orthodox Church as
a Bicentennial project.
C. Grant Applications - Lucy McIver made a motion that the grant
submitted by the Rainbow Girls for a 4th of July parade float be
endorsed by the Kodiak Commission and sent to the state AARBC.
Father Kreta seconded the motion. Passed unanimously. Jean Rhines
made a motion that the grant application submitted by the Kodiak
Day Care Center for the Kapitan and Crew Playground be endorsed by
the Kodiak Commission and sent to the State AARBC. Margaret Childs
seconded the motion. Passed unanimously. Dennis Murray made a
motion that the grant application being written by the Elks for
fireworks for the 4th of July be endorsed by the Kodiak Commission
and sent to the State AARBC. Father Kreta seconded the motion.
Passed unanimously. Jean Rhines made a motion that the grant
application to be written by St. Herman's Pastoral School for the
restoration of the Russian Orthodox Bell Tower be approved by the
Kodiak Commission and forwarded to the State for Approval. Nancy
Anderson seconded the motion. Passed unanimously. The grants will
be sent with a letter of endorsement to Beaty Langnes in Anchorage
by the 15th of April for inclusion on the Agenda for the State
meeting to be held -in Anchorage on April 29th and 30th.
D. Recognition of KMXT - Jeannine Drinkall of the Public Broad-
casting Radio Station was not present. This item was tabled until
the next regular meeting.
E. Bicentennial Register and Index - These books were passed around
for the members to look at and will be available at the Borough Office.
VI CHAIRMANS COMMENTS
Bicentennial recognition for local groups and individuals will be on
the agenda for the next meeting. Please be thinking of those you
would like to nominate.

Ann Barker reported on publicity. Lucy McIver announced that the
Russian Dancers have been invited to perform in Washington D.C.
at the Kennedy Center November 15th and 16th. The committee con—
gratulated Lucy and her group. Dennis Murray made a motion that
Lucy McIver write a grant application to obtain matching funds
to send the remaining four dancers to Washington D.C. and that
this grant be endorsed by the Kodiak Commission and sent to the
State AARBC for approval. Ann Barker seconded the motion.
Passed unanimously. Father Kreta inquired as to the status of
the new museum. A special meting was set up for Tuesday, April
13th at St. Herman's School with Father Kreta, Lucy McIver and
Allen Taylor to develop a program to solve the land acquisition
problem.
VIII ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 p.m. the next regular meting
will be May 8, 1976 at 11:30 a.m. at the Captain's Keg.
