The meeting was called to order after lunch at 12 noon at the
Captain's Keg by Chairman Allen Taylor.

The Chairman first reviewed the Bicentennial Newsletters re-
ceived from the National Bicentennial Administration since the
last meeting. John Warner's suggestion for use of the national
logo within the school's during this Bicentennial year was
commented on and Allen Taylor will contact Chuck Evans to see
if the school district will order logo stickers for use on
diploma's etc.
IV OLD BUSINESS
A. Heritage Museum - It was noted that no response had been re-
ceived to date on the letter to Standard Oil.
B. Town Meeting '76 - The concept of the upcoming Town Meeting
was discussed and the members were given a brief outline as to
what was being planned for the Kodiak Town Meeting. Allen
Taylor urged all the committee members to attend the Town Meet-
ing on March 6th and to interest members of other groups that
they belong to to attend. The Town Meeting will be one of
Y.odiak's major Bicentennial functions.
C. Medallions - Dennis Murray discussed the order that has been
placed by the Senior Citizens for the Kodiak Logo Medallions.
The final number of these medallions produced will depend upon
demand. The silver medallion will sell for $30.,through the
Senior Citizens. The bronze and rickle medallions will be approx-
imately $3./$4. and will be available through local merchants.
The Senior Citizens are planning to donate some medallions to the
Bicentennial Commission for presentation to V.I.P.'s visiting
Kodiak.

The State of Alaska Bicentennial Commemorative Medallions were shown
and Allen Taylor and Dennis Murray discussed the limited number that
were minted. The Senior Citizens have obtained 10 silver medallions.
Allen Taylor said that after discussion with the Borough and Senior
Citizens it was decided to offer these medallions first to the mem-
bers of the committee. Committee members present then purchased the
medallions. "
D. Air Force Band/Singing Sargents , The Air Force Band will be'in
Kodiak April 24th to perform at the Main School Gym at 8 P.M. Allen
Taylor gave a brief description of the event and asked if the Com-
mittee would like to sponsor the Air Force Band. He noted three re-
sponsibilities of the sponsor: h. Raise funds to run a full page ad
in the paper, print tickets and programs. 2. Co --ordinate publicity
and correspondence 3. Co-ordinate arrangements for facilities and
concert management.
Jean Rhines made a motion that the Bicentennial Committee sponsor
the Air Force Band and Singing Sargents.
Dennis Murray seconded the motion.'
Passed unanimously.
Gil Jarvella suggested that a committee be formed to contact various
organizations in town for.contributions.in order to have tickets
printed etc.
The following members volunteered to serve on the necessary committees:
1. Fundraising - Gil Jarvella, Eunice Neseth, Jean Rhines and Susan
Starr Bresette
2. Publicity and Correspondence - Ann Barker and Jean Rhines
3. Concert Co-ordination Allen Taylor, Margaret Childs and Dennis
Murray.
Allen Taylor suggested that a Kodiak Bicentennial "Medallion be pre-
sented to Col. Gabriel and Kodiak Crab Tie Tac's to the members of
the Band and Singing Sargents.
Gil Jarvella recommended a letter be written to the Chamber of
Commerce asking them to donate the Crab Tie Tac's. Mayor Craig
commented that if the Chamber would not do this he might be able to
use his expense account for this purpose.
.Allen Taylor suggested the American Legion be asked to sponsor a
Sea Food Brunch Sunday morning April 25th for the community and
members of the Air Force Band.
He also thought the Bicentennial Committee might like to sponsor a
no host cocktail party for the Colonel the night of the concert.
Cliff Rountree will be asked to be a guest conductor for the concert.
E: Bicentennial Calendar - Eunice Neseth mentioned that the Museum
was considering sponsoring a formal dress ball for the 4th of July.
F. Publicity - Ann Barker will have another article in the Mirror
on Bicentennial events and ask again for projects to be sent to Box
1776.

A. Fourth of July Parade , Larry Graber Chairman of this year's
parade for the American Legion was not present. it was noted that
Gov. Hammond had been invited to Kodiak for the 4th of July and it
is hopeful that he will attend.
Dennis Murray suggested that a letter be written to the Chamber of
Commerce asking them to dispense with the Crab Festival Parade this
year as it was noted that the Festival this year will be only three
weeks prior to the 4th of July.
B. Bicentennial Idea Book - Jean Rhines will make the Idea Book
available in the schools.
Margaret Childs will contact Miss Carol and the Library Association
with the idea of making.a Bicentennial Scrapbook for Kodiak.
C. Special Projects Response , Dennis Murray will contact Sherri
Murray or-Lorie Hervey about organizing a group to sing patriotic
music at Bicentennial functions.—
D. Bicentennial Talent Show - Arun Barker will have an article in the
Mirror about this Talent Show at the Tanana Valley State Fair for
anyone in Kodiak that might wish to participate.
E. Alameda 176 Program,- The letter and information received on this
program from the Chamber of Commerce was read and discussed. Dennis
Murray made a motion that the Bicentennial Committee favorably endorse
and sponsor the Alameda '76 Program. .The motion was seconded by Jean
Rhines. Passed unanimously. A letter will be sent to Hazel Hogan of
the Chamber of Commerce notifying her of the Committee's action.
F. Regional Calendar - It was noted that the State has been asked to
include additional Kodiak Bicentennial events in the regional calendar.
G. State ARBC Meetings - Allen Taylor commented that it was doubtful
that he would be attending the State meetings. .He asked if anyone else
might be able to attend. Father Kreta said he might.

The Wagon Train from Alaska will roll. The Peterson have collected
money from different organization and will be leaving February 25th.
The scrolls will be available at the Town Meeting for people to sign.
Flag Day will be sponsored by the Elks. RADM Hayes has been asked to
speak. It will be important to get people to attend this function.
An interview will be arranged with KVOK and Lloyd and Bob Bridges are
to be invited to the next meeting.

Jean Rhines asked about the status of the Flag Program for the
schools. It was uncertain as to what schools would be receiving
flags. Jean will call CDR Partin on the Base to obtain further
information.
VIII ADJOURNMENT /
The meeting was adjourned at 1:45 P.M. The next regular meeting
will be Saturday, March 13, 1976 at 11:30 A.M. at the Captain's
Keg.
