Chapter 31 Accessibility: Will this new chapter satisfy the Americans With,Disabilities Act? It was thought that the ANSI Accessibility Standards adopted by the new UBC would show intent to comply with the new legislation. Chapter 25 & Appendix 25 Conventional Light -Frame Construction in High -Wind Areas: Light frame construction requirements,(single family and duplex) require more bracing in the 1991 UBC than the 1986 CABO dwelling code, which is currently adopted by the City and Borough. Appendix 25 is intended for areas with a design wind speed of 80 to 110 miles an hour. The design wind speed for Kodiak is 110 mph.
