1969-04-02 Regular MeetingF_ KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH PLANNING AND ZONING CONNIISSION - WORK SESSION 1,.is14L 2, 1969 The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Ed Haney, at 8:00 P.M. in the Borough office, Kodiak, Alaska II ROIL CALL Present Ed Haney, Acting Chairman Absent John Waller (late arrival) Chairman Harry Wal],ace (excused) Wilda Gellis John Welch Ernie Brothers Also present: Jim Stansbury, Building Inspector III PURPOSE OF THIS MEETING WAS TO REVI07 AND DISCUSS THE DRAFT ZONING ORDINANCE AND PRESENT RECORk ENDATIONS: Mr. Haney asked that in the case of Unification would it be possible to so word the Zoning Ordinance that it would still apply. Mrs. Gellis stated that this would probably be up to the Charter Commission. The Cannission reviewed each page separately and made the following recommendations: Page 11 - In order not to c,ut out the new type of construction of trailers the Ccnrdssion would like to have the words Trailer coach (mobile hone) to read tlodular Units. (11obile Hane) : a vehicular, portable structure built on a chassis and designed to be used without a permanent foundation as a dwelling when connected to indicated utilities. Travel Trailers: A vehicular portable structure built on a chassis, designed to be used as a temporary dwelling for travel, recreational, and vacation use, and when equipped for the road, being of body width not exceeding 8 feet and being of any weight provided its body length does not exceed 35 feet. This definition includes"expando" trailers and trailers with prochcs. This definition does not include those buildings or trailers which are pre - constructed to be attached together to make one detached dwelling unit. Page 26 - Delete Item "I" - thereby removing the limitation of height of structure. Page 33 - Item "Y' - 1. add "for the safe and efficient operation of sea and/or air transportation and commerce. Page 37-38-39, Under "G" - 1. Location of required loading facilities: The off-street loading facilities shall be in all cases on the same lot or parcel of land as the structure they are inteded to serve or "adjoining parcel of land." Page 40 - #9. Add: ---"shall be subject to the approval of the appropriate lacw enforcement official." r Page 55 - Change - "The Planning Cotmission and the Borough assembly shall I not consider any proposed amendment to the Borough Zoning Map which is substantially the same as any other proposed amendment submitted within the previous twelve months and which has been rejected.
