1977-07-27 Regular Meeting^DIAK PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH I CALL TO ORDER July 27, 1977 The Planning and Zoning meeting was called to order by Chairman Williams at 7:30 p.m. in the Borough Meeting Room, II ROLL CALL Present Phil Anderson Ron Ball Gene Erwin Tom Logan John Pugh Bill Williams, Chairman A quorum was established. the audience. Mr.Logan -called attention to the letter from the Mayor of Old Harbor requesting the village be rezoned to r-1 Mr. Logan stated that he would like to see it rezoned to R-1 in which case building could proceed within two weeks. If it was changed to unclassified residential another meeting would have to be held in September and that would hold up the building. Mr. Simmons reported "no" but that about 10 lots in Tract C were going to be built on. It was also reported that there was no knowledge of anyone living in Tract D. Mr. Simmons was also asked if the zoning were changed to unclassi- fied would he still be able to get federal monies. Iie reported that the only requirements were that he comply with all ordinances whatever they might be. Air. ball seconded. Discussion rollowed. It was noted that Port Lions has adopted their own comprehensive plan and their zoning map was never officially adopted by this commission. R-1 classification would be more consistent with the comprehensive plan. Mr. Milligan was asked what the difference was between un- classified and R-1. He reported virtually the same except that unclassified would allow two dwelling units per lot, R-1 would allow only one dwelling unit. Mr. Logan stated that changing the area to R--1 now was only an interim measure. Motion passed 4-2 with Mr. Pugh and Mr. Williams voting "NO".
