REGULAR MEETING - DEC. 2, 1964
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Johnson at 7:40 p.m. in the Courtroom
with Commissioners Lamme, Sutliff, Felton, Kraft, Juelson, Duros and Anderson
present.
The minutes of the Special Meeting of November 25, 1964, were approved as received.
James Nelson appeared for Jehovah's Witnesses with regard to rebuilding their church
on a 60 x 130 ft. portion of U. S. Survey 2739. A letter explaining the situation
was read. Harry Felton moved that the commission concur with the request in their
letter. It was seconded by C. Anderson and passed unanimously.
Mr. Powell, the Borough Chairman, presented a suggestion from the Alaska Division of
Lands that the Borough reduce the requirements for size of lots to 22 acres along the
road system. They also would like to release all other land possible without roads
being provided. Chairman Powell announced a joint meeting December 15th with KIB,
ADL and the Port Lions Council.. A lengthy discussion followed. Commissioner Anderson
moved that we concur -fith the ADL suggestion. It was seconded by Commissioner Felton
and passed by a 6 to 1 vote.
Commissioner Anderson moved that we table the discussion on trailer courts until
the next regular meeting. It was seconded by Commissioner Kraft and passed unani-
mously.
Commissioner Kraft moved that the Borough adopt the Uniform Building Code, the
National Electric Code and the National Plumbing Code. It was seconded by Commissioner
Anderson. A discussion of the reasons for these codes and local needs followed. It
was passed unanimously.
A lengthy and heated discussion on rezoning of Airpark Subdivision was held.
Commissioner Kraft moved that we adjourn at 10:00 p.m. It was seconded by Commissioner
Anderson and passed unanimously.
