1964-05-26 Regular Meetingr-1 _,N PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MAY 26, 1964 The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. in the Courtroom by Chairman A. H. Johnson. Commissioners present: O. Johnson, Anderson, Felton, Lamme, and Sutliff. Also present: Roy Madsen, Jim Barr and Frank Irick. A letter from Erich Mueller was read requesting approval to move a house trailer next i^- to Naughtonfs Bakery for a temporary office. P-' Commissioner Sutliff made the motion we approve Mr. Mueller's request. He also recom- mended the City Council give anyone who was in the tsunami the same privileges providing it is a presentable building on skids or such a condition that it would be able to be moved within 24 hours after notice. These may be used as temporary offices no longer than two years. Seconded by Commissioner 0. Johnson and unanimously carried by a voice vote. Mr. T. T. Jackson presented for approval Lot 23A of the subdivision of Lot 23 of the land embraced in U.S. Survey #3099 situate on Mission Road. Commissioner Sutliff made the motion that the Commission approve Mr. Jackson's request. Seconded by Commissioner 0. Johnson, and unanimously carried. Frank Irick submitted plans for Kodiak Inn Inc. which will be a motel, restaurant, arcade and cocktal lounge located on Lot 14, Block 19, for approval. Commissioner 0. Johnson moved the plans be accepted subject to the review of the City Engineer. Commissioner Felton seconded the motion which was unanimously carried. Commissioner Sutliff asked Mr. Barr if there is any planning being done for the cross runway of Kodiak Airport. Mr. Barr stated that at the present time no money has been allocated for this project from the State and it has not been decided how much additional land will be required. Commissioner Felton made the motion that the airport be limited to bush type operation in the Kodiak Borough and surrounding area. Seconded by Commissioner Anderson and a general discussion followed, -s �: c✓ ���o .w � �����_�/7 Q > Chairman Johnson asked that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as read. The Commissioners unanimously approved. Commissioner Anderson suggested that Urban Renewal act with greater speed. It was further suggested that present property owners in the downtown district be permitted to rebuild in the same location. It was brought out that 40 permanent low-cost houses will be built by A.S.H.A. and the land is to be provided for them by the City of Kodiak. These homes are to be rented to people with an income under $6,000.00 per year. Mr. Felton Objected strongly to the construction of the houses being built by A.S.H.A. Commissioner Anderson made the motion that the City present the plans for the low-cost housing and trailers to the Commission for their approval and recommendations. Commis- sioner 0.
