RESOLUTION NO. FY2023-12
A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH APPROVING
FUNDING OF THE KODIAK ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (KEDC)
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has developed and approved a strategic plan
for the Borough and one of the strategic directions in the plan is to foster responsible economic
growth throughout the Borough; and
WHEREAS, within that Strategic Plan has listed as a priority the need to collaborate with other
governmental entities, tribes, and civic organizations to enhance economic development within
the Borough; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly appropriated $10,000 in the FY23 budget
within the General Fund Economic Development department; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has received a current project list from
KEDC, a copy of which is attached as Appendix A to this resolution and incorporated herein,
which advances the Borough's economic development objectives; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly finds that it is in the Borough's best interests
to grant funds to KEDC to carry out the projects on the list.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that:
Section 1. The Kodiak Island Borough approves the award of a grant of $10,000 to the Kodiak
Economic Development Corporation for the purposes of assisting in completion of the
remaining tasks on the KEDC current projects tracking list.
Section 2. The Borough Manager is authorized to execute a grant agreement with KEDC and
take such other steps as may be required to implement this resolution and provide the grant
to KEDC.
