A Consolidation Committee meeting of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly was held
on August 31, 2020, in the Borough Assembly Chambers of the Kodiak Island
Borough Building, 710 Mill Bay Road. The meeting was called to order at 6:34 p.m.

other?

Staffing: review organizational charts

Borough Manager Michael Powers provided an overview of Borough personnel;
responded to questions regarding collective bargaining, employee health insurance,
and wages
Concurrent Business:
Budgeting for Consolidated Government. Please see the attached spreadsheet for a
Public Safety summary and refer to the City of Kodiak budget docum ent for details
about how it has been structured.
Discussion included the need to clarify assessed values for properties within the City
boundaries to accurately calculate potential revenue for future services within that
boundary. Also, budgeting accurately for public safety and discussion about future of
State Trooper presence, perhaps look at how public safety is structured in Juneau

MEMBERS CLOSING COMMENTS
Mr. Thomas's attendance may vary in the coming months due to work needs; Mr. Thran
would like to see City representation and participation on this committee.
