Assembly Special Meeting
October 3, 2018
A special meeting of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly was held on October 3, 2018,
in the Borough Conference Room of the Kodiak Island Borough Building, 710 Mill Bay
Road. The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
Present were Mayor Dan Rohrer, Assembly members Julie Kavanaugh, Andrew
Schroeder, Scott Smiley, and Dennis Symmons. Also present were Borough Manager
Michael Powers, and Borough Clerk Nova Javier.
SMILEY moved to excuse all Assembly members who were absent due to personal
leave.
VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
CITIZENS COMMENTS
None.
CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS IN THE CALL FOR THE SPECIAL MEETING
1. Approval of a Letter of Support Addressed to the Board of Fish Related to Kodiak
Regional Aquaculture Association, Hatcheries, and Hatchery Production in
Alaska.
SMILEY moved to approve the letter support addressed to the Board of Fish relating to
KRAA Hatcheries and Hatchery Production in Alaska.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: Kavanaugh, Schroeder,
Smiley, and Symmons.
2. Approval of a Letter Addressed to NOAA Fisheries Related to the Potential Loss
of Federal Groundfish Surveys that Inform Groundfish Stock Assessments and
the Model Outputs that Determine Acceptable Biological Catches for Gulf of
Alaska Groundfish Fisheries.
SMILEY moved to approve the letter support addressed to NOAA Fisheries related to the
potential loss of Federal Groundfish Surveys that inform Groundfish Stock Assessments
and the Model Outputs that determine acceptable Biological Catches for Gulf of Alaska
Groundfish Fisheries.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: Schroeder, Smiley,
Symmons, and Kavanaugh.

SYMMONS moved to adjourn the meeting.
