1981-11-12 Regular MeetingYW4 - - "UVU'llucl 142 1.Yol Chairman Wayne Coleman called the Architectural Review Board to order on Thursday, November 12, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. in order to begin review of the Requests for Proposals submitted in conjunction with the Island Lake Water and Sewer project. The following persons were in attendance: Phil Shealy Ronald M. Chase Art Bors Wayne Coleman Dave Crowe Scott Arndt Bill Beaty RarryLEhick6#ng Ed Kozak The group reviewed the following fourteen proposals which had been submitted in response to the RFP Engineering Services for Water/Sewer System Improvements in the Service District No. I [Island Lake -Mill Bay -Spruce Cape) dated September 10, 1981: 1. Bell, Herring & Associates (JV with Collins $ Ryder) 2. CH2M Hill 3. Chugach Engineers and Constructors (JV with BE$C) 4. ESCA-Tech Engineering (JV with Moore, Wallace 6 Kenndy) S. International Engineering Co., Inc. (Parent Firm of R.W.Rdtherford €, Assoc •6. Kramer, Chin F, Mayo 7. Linck-Thompson: JV of AA+E and Straam Engineers 8. Little Susitna Company (JV with Armstrong & Associates) 9. PRC Consoeur Townsend 10. Quadra Engineering, Inc. (Formerly Gordon Sheret $ Associates) 11. Tans -Alaska Engineering (JV with Howard Grey $ Assoc. $ Silvers Engrg.) 12. URS Company 13. USKH 14. Veco, Inc. (JV with Arctic Engineers, Inc.) In further discussion it was agreed to drop the following six firms from further consideration in that they had not actually visited Kodiak and/or did not have the qualifications the group were looking for: 1. Chugach Engineers 4 Constructors, Inc. 2. ESCA-Tech Engineering 3. Linck-Thompson 4. The Little Susitna Company 5. Quadra Engineering, Inc. 6. Trans -Alaska Engineering The group then agreed to review the material which had been distributed at the meeting on their own time and to continue the meeting on the Island Lake project on Friday, November 20th. In Other Business the Architectural Review Board reviewed CTA's letter of October 27th -the three types of pool coverings suggested by the architectural firm. The Architectural Review Board noted that they not care for the overhead proposal and after further discussion the consensus of the group was that the deck location appeared most suitable for our needs and requested that CTA so be advised. The Architectural Review Board then reviewed the letter from CTA dated October 30th and after considerable discussion reaffirmed their desire for CTA to continue to investigate the usage of high pressure sodium lighting in other interior situations and particularly in pool applications and to suggest the Architectural Review Board - Minutes - November 12, 1981 rage 2 names of :any pool installations known. Chairman --Coleman then called the next meeting for Friday, November 20, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. -in the Conference Room and requested the staff to make reference calls in regards to firms still under consideration for the Island Lake project.
