1981-12-01 Regular MeetingArchitectural Review Board - Minutes - December 1, 1981 ';,*Chairman Wayne Coleman called the Architectural Review Board to order on Tuesday, December 1, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. in order to review the response for the Request for Proposals (RFP) packet titled Professional Advice -Recommendations Toward Implementa- tion of the Long Range Plan, Kodiak Island Borough HospitAl,Kodiak Alaska. The following persons were in attendance: Ron Chase Phil Shealy Wayne Coleman Scott Arndt Dan VanWieringen Ed Kozak Bill Beaty Dave Crowe Jim Olsen Larry Chickering Dan VanWieringen reported of the Kodiak Island Borough Hospital Master Plan and reviewed the various deficiencies in the present facility as well as the need for expansion. Chairman Coleman then noted the following proposals had been received in response to the RFP packet: I. Ellerbe Alaska and Planning $ Management Services, Inc.; 2. Environmental Concerns, Inc., P.S.; 3. Haeg-Bettis Associates; 4. CTA Architects Engineers; S. Architects GDM and Associates, Inc.; 6. Balzaiser, Longwood, Smith and Paul and Associates; 7. Managerment Planning Services; 8. Stone Marraccini and Peterson; 9. Brooks -Hensley and Creager Architects P.S. After considerable discussion it was the unanimous consensus of the.Architectural Review Board that the following firms be invited to make 50 -minute presentations on Tuesday, January 12, 1982 at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Library'at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 p.m. CTA; Ellerbe Alaska and Planning $ Management Services, Inc.; and Environmental Concern,' Inc. Chairman Colenlan noted that the presentations would be made in alphabetical order and the review board should be prepared to make a recommendation as to the -firm to be selected after the presentations that night.' Dave Crowe then reported on the High School pool remodeling noting that he. .and .CTA recommended that the 'following alternates be included in the bids which were proposed to be opened at 3:00 p.m. on 17 February, 1982: 1) an alternate for the pool basin finish i.e. marble dust plaster basic bid with ceramic tile as an - alternate; 2) high pressure sodium to be basic bid with metal halide as an alter- nate; 3) provide an alternate bid item for the filter liner. The Architectural Review Board concurred with the recommendation. Mr. Crowe then noted that he -had also made arrangements with the School District to break holes in the concrete prior to December 14th to provide access to the area under the deck between the pool and the locker rooms.to determine footing elevations and that it was his recommendation that there be no attempt to salvage the pool liner but rather to allow the contractor to remove it in any manner he saw fit. After some brief discussion, the consensus of the Architectural Review Board was to concur with Mr. Crowe's recommendation.
