Jack Leet of URS Company reviewed the Design Memorandum for Sewer and Water Improve-
ments for Service District No. 1. Considerable discussion followed. Ron Chase moved
to increase the pipe size around the lakes from 6 inches to 8 inches. Motion seconded
by Scott Arndt and unanimously approved after indications that the Service District
concurred. Further discussion followed and Jim Olson moved that the Design Memorandum
No. 1 be approved with the above modification. Seconded by Ron Chase and unanimously
approved.
Dave Waldron reviewed the fence at Main Elementary School and noted that the sub-
committee's recommendation as appointed by the Architectural Review Board was that
the situation was adequate and no design change was necessary.
Staff presented Akhiok dock bids and Scott Arndt moved that the low bidder Will-Aska
be recommended as the contractor for the Akhiok dock project. Motion seconded by
Jim Olson and unanimously approved.
Discussion followed on the Bells Flats and Fire Protection Area No. 1 stations.
Mr. Waldron noted that Bells Flats wanted the wood building and apartment and that
Fire Protection No. 1 also desired the wood building. Considerable discussion followed
and John Witteveen moved that the ARB recommend L. G. Schneider with the apartment for
both fire districts. Motion seconded by Scott Arndt and unanimously approved with Lou
Schneider abstaining.
Dave Waldron then reviewed the Hospital ramp noting that it will not extend out into
the driving lane as indicated at the last meeting by Dan Van Wierinaen. He further
noted that Dan now concurs with the plans as originally proposed. No action was
necessary on this matter.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Wayne ]em , Chairman
Architectural Review Board
