Architectural Review Board - Minutes - January 11, 1984
The Architectural Review Board met at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 1984
in the School District conference room with the following persons present: Wayne
Coleman, John Witteveen, Jim Olson, Phil Shealy, Ray Camardella, Art Bors, Robin
Heinrichs, Bill Beaty, Lou Schneider, Phil Anderson, Newell Goldsberry, Bob
Aldrich, Alex Hargis and Armond Marian. Chuck Winegarden was absent.
Bob Aldrich reported on the auditorium/Old Main remodel project and presented plans
for review noting that the schematic was completed last April and that his staff is
currently completing the final draft plans and specs with this being the halfway
review. He then reviewed the project noting that the building would be steel framed
with a metal skin and Old Main would be remodeled and insulated to match the current
Junior High project. He further reiterated that there was no parking as part of this
project nor refrigeration for cooling. The price estimate at this time including all
the alternates is approximately $9,660,861. Mr. Aldrich further noted that the
building would have a wet fire sprinkler and the fire alarm be integrated with the
High School system. Bill Beaty noted some bad wiring existed in the Old Main hall
which had been cited as a code violation. Discussion followed on the type of
elevators, andthe possibility of sole source purchasing. It was also noted that if
the freight elevator was provided it may not be necessary to have the stage lift.
Ray noted again that this was the mid -point review and that in March after a public
hearing and a 90 percent completion by the architects the plans can be adopted by the
Assembly.
Newell reported on the Junior High project noting good cooperation by an excellent
r contractor who appeared to be well ahead of schedule. Ray them reviewed the
facility coordinator's status and answered several questions.
In other business Ray reviewed a letter from GDM regarding the type of boiler used
in the High School locker room project as requested by Ron Chase. GDM noted that
the H. B. Smith was equal to the Weil -McLain boiler as specified. Ray also noted
that the report on the High School asbestos will be completed shortly and will be
distributed to the ARB prior to the next meeting. They also reviewed Peterson
Elementary School noting that the Borough is still dealing with the federal govern-
ment on deeding the school over. Ray then reviewed the emergency generator at the
hospital noting that the Assembly had authorized going out for an RFP for lease/
purchase of two generators in a modular unit. Considerable discussion followed and
Ray noted he was having trouble determining the average load and Bill Beaty
indicated he had this information which he would supply to him.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 p.m.
