CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLIEGENCE CHAIR Paul Van Dyke called the regular meeting to order at 6:05 PM. 2. ROLL CALL Board Members present were Rebecca Nelson, Paul Van Dyke and Mike Dolph and Richard Carstens. Scott Arndt was absent. Also present were Chief Howard Rue and Secretary Jenny Clay. 3. ACCEPTANCEIAPPROVAL OF AGENDA NELSON MOVED to approve the agenda. VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES NELSON MOVED to approve the minutes for the regular meeting of December 6, 2016. VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 5. ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF THE FINANCIAL REPORT NELSON MOVED to approve and acknowledge the Financial Report. VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 6. VISITOR COMMENTS None. 7. CHIEF REPORT Chief Rue spoke to the board regarding a memorandum in the packet for budget preparation purposes which included a list of projects and supplies. He also presented two quotes for the air compressor and hose reels. The Sprinkler system in the apartment and dishwasher purchase was not yet completed. The specs for the engine and tender were completed and advertising for the bid would commence next week. A used Snap On tool box for mechanic volunteer Bruce McNeil was purchased for $2,500. He credited Rebecca Nelson for her attention to the air compressor room including peg board and tools. The garage doors were in need of a maintenance contract to assure safety. Bids were being sought to fix and maintain garage door. He thanked Richard Carstens and John Parker for the Christmas Party. There were 67 people who attended. 8. CHAIRPERSONS REPORT Chair Van Dyke went before the Assembly last week to update them on the Fire Protection No. 1 Service area which included the purchase of a new Engine and Tender. He participated with Fire Protection Area No. 1 Board Regular Meeting December 21, 2016 Page 1 of 3 Mike Dolph -and Chief Rue on the Lieutenant test. He congratulated Rebecca Nelson on her new position as Captain. Sl i 9. NEW BUSINESS a) Apparatus Purchase L......---4Ehair Va! n Dyke -apologized to the board for being optimistic on his timeline for this purchase. He was working on the specifications which took a lengthy amount of time. He commended the Chief for his work on putting the specifications together along with everything else he had to do. Chief Rue reported the Engine and Tender specs were complete. He asked for the boards blessing to move the bid process forward. DOLPH MOVED to approve to authorize the Chief to proceed with RFD's on these two pieces of equipment in the normal fashion. ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED 4 TO 0. b) Budget Preparation Chair Van Dyke asked the board for their comments on the list he prepared of budget items and projects. Board discussion ensued. The next meeting in January, he would like to have a draft budget to present the Assembly. c) Purchase Mechanics Tool Box Chair Van Dyke was unsure on the cost of the tool box and put it on the agenda. Since the tool box was $2,500 no vote was needed. Chief Rue looked forward to reorganizing the department with the help of the shelving and tool box. 10. VISITOR COMMENTS None. 11. BOARD MEMBERS COMMENTS R Nelson -Chief Rue gave us a list and it detailed a lot of what has been done. The Chief has been the skipper and with the help of volunteers it's a team effort. M. Dolph - He agreed with Rebecca that it was an impressive list and he knows the Chief didn't do it all by himself but he was the driving force to bring this department back to where it was now. He was very happy to be a part of it. He wished all the blessings of the season to everyone for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. R. Carstens - He was impressed by the list but realized that not all of it was completed. The shelving was in the process of being installed. The reorganizing continues as more shelving is installed. He wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy prosperous New Year. P. Van Dyke - He was thankful for all those who make a difference at the station. He appreciated his fellow board members who donate their time and efforts to make a better place. He thanked Fire Protection Area No. 1 Board Regular Meeting December 21, 2016 Page 2 of 3 all of the volunteers, Chief Rue and Borough staff for all they do. Everyone makes a difference and it was exciting. The list was impressive and this is a team He was proud to be a part of the team. 12. NEXT MEETING SCHEDULE Chair Van Dyke scheduled a Regular Meeting for January 17, 2017. 13. ADJOURNMENT NELSON moved to adjourn the meeting. VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting was adjourned at 6:59 PM.
