III. MINUTES
Minutes of the previous meetings were not discussed.
IV. DISCUSSION OF PETERSON SCHEMATIC DRAWINGS
Comments began with drawing sheet C-I. It was questioned whether the abandoned utilidor outside
the building was in fact cleaned of all materials.
Mr. Johnston noted a void in the facade on detail 2/A6.1 and wondered if it might become a
condensation trap. Mr. Hyer noted that some weep holes might be added to respond to that concern.
Those present approved the proposed slab heat. There was discussion on whether copper or cast iron
piping would be used.
It was noted the roofing proposed was like the existing roof on IB/A6.1. A new roof of any type will
not affect the existing roof warranty. The roofing system, shown on 2/A6.1, was discussed and the
group stated they would like the roof to be exposed fully adhered PVC membrane. Eighty mill was
used for North Star and was termed to be strong and not difficult to lay.
Refrigerators were noted in the kindergarten rooms. They are spec'd as residential units. It was
noted the penthouse appeared to be a cramped space. What are the dimensions? Will there be heat in
the room to protect the coils? The use of glycol was discussed.
Mr. Johnston noted the area calls for wood construction instead of steel. My Flyer said the
determining factor was cost. Discussion of the length of the schedule indicated those present would
be interested in moving the end of construction to a December-January, date rather than push the
contractor to have the work completed by mid-August.
It was felt some items in the existing building in the mechanicaUelectrical area should be addressed,
so when completed, Peterson would be "finished". Cost estimates were discussed. Based on the
schematic design, the current estimate is about $1,340,000. It is expected to grow by 1% by spring.
V. NEXT MEETING
Next meeting will be at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17, 1997 in the Borough Conference
Room.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
