7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
8 AMENDING TITLE 17 ZONING OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH CODE OF
9 ORDINANCES BY AMENDING SECTION 17.10.030 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO
10 INCORPORATE THE KODIAK ROAD SYSTEM TRAILS MASTER PLAN

13 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Road System Trails Master Plan was initiated at the urging of the
14 members of the recreational community and the Borough Parks and Recreation Committee;
15 and
16
17 WHEREAS, the 2008 Kodiak Island Borough Comprehensive Plan Update identified trails
18 and a trails plan as a priority to guarantee access to recreational - lands; and
19
20 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly identified the effort to develop a trails
21 plan in the 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 Strategic Plan; and
22
23 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Parks and Recreation Committee selected a
24 consultant after reviewing and interviewing firms who responded to a Request for Proposals;
25 and
26
27 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Parks and Recreation Committee and the
28 consultant conducted well attended public hearings, reviewed, edited and recommended
29 changes to draft documents and maps; and
30
31 WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission also held work sessions and public
32 meetings providing citizens additional opportunity to comment on the plan; and

34 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission has
35 recommended that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly adopt the Kodiak Road System
36 Trails Master Plan and incorporate it into the Kodiak Island Borough Comprehensive Plan.

38 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
39 BOROUGH THAT:

41 Section 1: This ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall become a part
42 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances.

44 Section 2: Title 17 Zoning of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances is amended
45 as follows:
